Coal Equipment Operator **Summary**
The Coal Equipment Operator plays a critical role in supporting fossil fuel operations at Plant Bowen. This position is responsible for operating assigned equipment safely and efficiently, assisting the Mechanic-Tractor Operator, and ensuring compliance with plant procedures. The role requires consistent monitoring, inspection, and documentation to maintain optimal equipment performance and environmental compliance.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Operate assigned equipment within established safety and operational parameters.
+ Assist the Mechanic-Tractor Operator in daily operations.
+ Conduct equipment inspections at least twice per shift, or more frequently as needed.
+ Monitor equipment indicators and investigate all alarms to determine root causes.
+ Review fossil fuel data and logs to ensure safe and efficient operations.
+ Maintain accurate documentation related to equipment performance and maintenance.
+ Perform additional duties as assigned during the shift.
**Technical Proficiency & Operational Knowledge**
+ Understand the layout and operation of the conveyor system, including gates and belts.
+ Operate and troubleshoot Foxboro systems.
+ Coordinate conveyor system operations to prevent equipment damage.
+ Calibrate scales and understand coal flow-related equipment.
+ Conduct walk-down inspections of conveyor and coal sampling systems; clean and lubricate equipment as needed.
+ Troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic issues within the conveyor and sampling systems.
+ Follow proper procedures for unloading fuel oil trucks and unit trains.
+ Accurately complete all required documentation related to fuel handling.
+ Execute plant Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and understand GEN 0201.
+ Assist in training team members and actively participate in team discussions.
+ Coordinate coal operations with the M.T.O. at the trestle.
+ Maintain knowledge of company policies, fossil fuel procedures, and environmental regulations (Title V Operating Permit).
+ Comply with SCH 11520 Coal Train Unloading procedures and all safety and compliance protocols.
**Qualifications**
+ Successful completion of the **POSS** (Plant Operator Selection System) and **MASS** (Power Plant Maintenance Selection System) pre-employment tests is required.
