**Description:**
**SUMMARY**
This position is responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of hospital systems which provide normal and emergency power, heating, conditioned ventilated air, soft domestic cold and hot water, compressed medical and control air and medical vacuum. The operation of plant equipment is monitored, and repair and/or maintenance work performed to ensure the continuing supply of power, heat, water, compressed air, and medical vacuum.
**REQUIREMENTS**
1. High school diploma or equivalent is required.
2. Successful completion of an approved apprentice program or equivalent experience is required.
3. Must be able to identify and be proficient with all hand and power tools to include multimeter, amp, and probe.
4. Proficiency with electricity and fundamentals of wiring is required.
**ROLE SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES**
1. Monitor plant equipment in the prescribed manner to assure optimum efficiency and prevent or reduce downtime and maintenance costs.
2. Record designated pressures and temperatures to assure that plant equipment is operating within prescribed parameters.
3. Start, secure, adjust, regulate and control major and associated pieces of equipment to maintain conditions required by the hospital.
4. Perform routine and unscheduled maintenance on plant equipment, determine causes of failures/problems and take corrective action.
5. Perform preventative maintenance and filter changes according to established schedules.
6. Perform basic repairs and those indicated by the computerized diagnostic system.
7. Perform all watch standing in the plant. i.e., mix chemicals, fill chemical tanks, check generators, and water softeners.
8. Identify and read single line diagram for electrical systems in hospital.
9. Identify panels on the Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) and which panels are the Uninterruptible power supply (UPS).
10. Participate in emergency repairs and/or special projects (weekend, holiday, and/or after hours).
11. Interpret all alarms in telemetry and generator panel, identifying issues of alarms.
Pay Range: $36.67 - $49.50
