Job Title: CNC Programmer

Job Description

This full-time, on-site role involves creating and optimizing CNC programs, performing first-piece setups, and supporting milling and mill-turn operations. The ideal candidate is experienced with Mastercam (4 and 5 axis), comfortable on the shop floor, and able to communicate effectively with operators, engineering, and inspection teams. You will play a key role in ensuring smooth workflow, accurate setups, and high-quality output across a diverse mix of defense and aerospace components.

Responsibilities

Review technical drawings, models, and specifications for manufacturability.Program CNC machines using Mastercam, focusing on 4 and 5 axis milling and mill-turn lathes.Perform setups and complete first article inspections for each operation.Operate machines during periods of lower programming demand.Support operators by clarifying intent, improving communication, and validating programs.Collaborate closely with engineering, inspection, and assembly to ensure product quality.Ensure machined components meet cycle time and cost targets.Assist with tooling strategies, workholding, and process improvements.Complete root cause and corrective action reports when required.Provide leadership, mentorship, and training to team members.Help stabilize and support the hybrid/toolmaker and special projects area.Maintain compliance with ITAR and company quality standards.

Essential Skills

5+ years of CNC programming and machining experience.Strong Mastercam experience, including 4 and 5 axis milling and mill-turn lathes.Ability to interpret technical drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing specifications.Ability to review 3D models (SolidWorks) and 2D drawings (AutoCAD).Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.Commitment to meeting internal and customer schedule requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Familiarity with Epicor ERP is a plus.

Work Environment

Work in a machine shop environment with a shift from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Overtime may be required as needed. The facility emphasizes quality and compliance, maintaining a professional and collaborative atmosphere.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irvine, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00/hr.
