Job Summary
Runs and monitors computer numerical control (CNC) milling machines, which cut and shape materials like metal to create precision parts based on digital designs and programs.
Key responsibilities include operating the machinery, loading and inspecting parts, performing minor adjustments, and maintaining the machines to ensure the finished products meet strict specifications and quality standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, technical skills, and the ability to read blueprints.
JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
In depth knowledge of set up and operations of CNC Machines and editing CNC programs required. Knowledge of machining techniques with high degree of difficulties. Experience programming and operating the Multus is required. Knowledge of operation of a Doosan, Haas, Hardinge, Captain and LB4000 desired. The applicant must be able to work with deadlines and production schedules to assure a quality product is delivered on time to the customers. A High School diploma or its equivalency is required, technical school training, apprenticeship program or equivalent. Successful work experience operating CNC metal fabricating machines (lathes, drills, grinders, etc.) desired. In addition, candidate must possess skill and knowledge in the set-up, adjustment and operation of machine shop equipment. Ability to read and interpret work orders, charts and blueprints and specifications, as well as skill and knowledge necessary in utilizing shop math and measuring instruments is required. Adherence to Quality Policy and Standard Operating Procedures and knowledge of those procedures will be a part of the daily process. Must be motivated, focused, and clear thinking. Ability to work safely and utilize good housekeeping is mandatory.JOB RESPONSIBILITY:
-Read and review customer order instructions and blueprint specifications.
-Secure necessary raw materials, fixtures, punches, tools, gauges, etc. for the job.
-Set up and operate CNC machines, making machine adjustments to produce required results.
-Perform own inspections (visual, optically, micrometer, verniers, indicator, etc.) -Process parts as needed, including samples.
-Use a variety of hand and power tools common to the trade.
-Maintain accurate records and logs of processes, materials and results.
-Assure tools and machines are maintained in clean and proper condition for usage. -Follow all safety procedures, including wearing of required protective equipment.The Saint-Gobain Superabrasives- North America, manufacturing facility in Travelers Rest, South Carolina is the manufacturing site for diamond dressing tools and direct plated grinding products serving high volume operations such as automotive, aerospace, and the bearing industry and machine manufacturer. The products manufactured are in the form of rotating wheels, in diameters ranging from .500 to 1067 mm, and they are used to shape materials that are too hard or too fragile for conventional abrasives.
