**Job Title: CNC Swiss Lathe Machinist** **Job Description** We are seeking a skilled machinist to join our precision department. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up jobs and running parts on a CNC Swiss lathe. This role involves ensuring the quality of parts produced, using a range of precision tools such as micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, and bore gages. The machinist will operate within a cell of 7 CNC lathes, typically managing 2-3 machines at a time, maintaining a tolerance of +/-.0005. The position requires working on long production runs ranging from 200 to thousands of parts. **Responsibilities** + Set up CNC Swiss lathes and run parts independently. + Meet daily with the first shift lead to receive job orders and work independently after the initial two-week training period. + Check the quality of parts using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and bore gages. + Read and interpret blueprints for job setup. + Ensure adherence to geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) symbols. **Essential Skills** + Ability to independently set up and operate CNC lathes, particularly Swiss lathes. + Proficiency in reading blueprints and using precision measuring tools. + Experience with GD&T symbols. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Previous experience with CNC Swiss lathes is a plus. + Troubleshooting and mechanical skills for changeovers. **Why Work Here?** Join a clean and updated work environment with a small company feel. Experience the supportive culture of a family-owned and operated business. **Work Environment** This position is available on various shifts, including Shift C (Friday - Sunday, 6am - 6pm), A Shift (Monday - Thursday, 5am - 3pm, with overtime on Friday), and 2nd Shift (Monday - Thursday, 2:30pm - 12:30am, with overtime). The shop is clean and organized, recently renovated from the lobby to the engineering offices. Despite the hustle and bustle of a three-shift plant, it maintains a small company atmosphere. The environment can be loud and hot in the summer due to no air conditioning, but large fans and open truck bay doors help with ventilation. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grand Rapids, MI. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
