CNC Lathe Machinist - 2nd Shift (Level will Depend on Experience)

Crane Aerospace and Electronics has an exciting opportunity for a 2nd Shift CNC Lathe Machinist II or III for our Burbank location. Hours are Monday-Friday 2:30pm - 11:30pm.

Job Summary: 

The CNC Machinist produces machined parts by setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine, maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records and maintaining equipment and supplies. 

Essential Functions:

Understand work orders, blueprints, manufacturing orders, and machining parameters

Validate material used

Maintain specifications; Troubleshoot, detect malfunctions and take appropriate actions; Know when to replace worn tools

Listen to machining operation in order to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and compensate for problems

Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments, templates, fixtures and knowledge of GDT standards

Maintain continuity among shifts by documenting and communicating actions taken thus far as well as any necessary further steps

Any other task assigned by supervisor or management 

 Non-Essential Functions:

Maintain conscientious work behaviors including work ethic, safety standards, quality, costs, and On-Time Delivery (OTD) 

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience: 2+ year of experience machining with CNC Lathe, preferably in aerospace manufacturing. Experience on 4-5 axis CNC Lathe (Okuma & Harding Lathe experience preferred).

Knowledge: Knowledge of various inspection equipment i.e. micrometers, calipers, and height gages; Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations; Knowledge of Geometric Dimensional Tolerancing; Understanding of cutting tool Geometry; Knowledge of tooling and coordination

Skills/Abilities: Able to work quickly and efficiently through Process Improvement structure; Good verbal and written communication; Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping

Education/Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent  

Eligibility Requirement:  This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Experience working with Okuma & Harding machine

Understanding of CNC G Code

Understanding of basic Math, Geometry and Trigonometry

Excellent teamwork skills 

Working Conditions:

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment

Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE

May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes

Flexible and willing to work overtime if necessary

Standing: 100% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task

Sitting: 0% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task

Lifting (in pounds): up to 30 pounds

Pushing (in pounds): up to 50 pounds

Mental/Visual: use of microscope, computer and blueprints

Workspace: clean bench, measuring table 

Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs. 

Hourly Ranges for CNC Machinist II and III. The level of the position will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities.

CNC Machinist Level II: $34.00 to $44.00

CNC Machinist Level III: $28.00 to $46.50
