Job Description

 

Ensure efficient operation of hotel properties, equipment, and maintenance services whilst protecting the Owner's assets.Oversee structural aspects, grounds maintenance, and external facilities of the hotels.Monitor budgets and control expenses across all areas of the department.Coordinate purchasing for Engineering departments in line with hotel procedures.Implement and monitor preventive maintenance procedures, including the annual Preventative Maintenance programme.Oversee all technical installations, including building services, kitchen equipment, and hotel systems.Ensure compliance with Minor Hotels policies on Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety.Provide solutions for emergency situations and significant technical issues.Lead and support the Chief Engineers & team members in achieving financial, operational, and service delivery targets through effective policy development and training.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil EngineeringMinimum of 10 years' experience in engineering roles within the hospitality industry, with at least 5 years in a senior management positionProven track record as a Director of Engineering or similar role in a multi-property or large-scale hotel environmentComprehensive knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systemsStrong understanding of energy management and sustainability practices in the hospitality sectorProficiency in computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) and property management softwareExcellent project management skills with experience in renovation and capital improvement projectsIn-depth knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and health and safety standardsStrong financial acumen with experience in budget preparation and cost controlExceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop engineering staff across multiple propertiesExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests, team members, staff, and stakeholders at all levelsProven problem-solving skills and ability to make quick, informed decisions in high-pressure situationsProfessional certifications such as Certified Hotel Engineer (CHE) or equivalent are highly desirableFluency in English; additional languages are advantageous
