What you’ll do

The Cloud Network Security Development Engineer is tasked with designing, implementing, and maintaining the security posture of cloud-based environments such as AWS, Azure, and GCP. This position necessitates a comprehensive understanding of cloud security best practices, classical network security, and the ability to manage security controls within a dynamic cloud environment.

This role entails accountability for Cloud security network solutions and detailed designs, including considerations such as Network Security Groups (NSGs), Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), Virtual Networks (VNet), User Defined Routes (UDRs), Network Function Virtualization (NFV), subnets, and Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs). Additionally, the role involves capacity and performance management.

The Cloud Network Security Development Engineer contributes to the architecture design process, working closely with Network Architects and adhering to their guidance. This includes understanding the impact on associated environments and ensuring the availability of supporting business and enabling network infrastructure within Cloud Providers and Data Centers. The role holder participates in the network lifecycle management through network build and upgrade projects. They collaborate with program and project managers to develop milestones and deliverables. While primarily utilizing existing procedures and tools to develop and safely execute network changes, they may occasionally need to create new procedures and deployment documentation.

The Cloud Network Security Development Engineer provides third-level support and remediation for escalated major network incidents related to cloud environments and Data Centre Security networking. They lead post-event root cause analyses and coordinate with networking automation services for the development and integration of support tooling. Frequently, they develop scripts to automate routine tasks and collaborate with network vendor technical account teams and internal Quality Assurance teams to drive bug resolution and assist in qualifying new firmware and operating systems.

Cloud Security Architecture: 

Design and implement Network secure cloud architectures including also classical Network infrastructuresParticipate in the evaluation and selection of cloud service providers and platforms as part of evolution and Network Security lifecycleEnsure compliance with relevant security standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA)Knowledge of SASE (Secure Access Services Edge, ZTA (Zero Trust Architecture) and SSE (Security Services Edge) frameworks and how they can be implemented in green & brown environments


Classical Network Security: 

Design and implement Network secure architectures within classical Network infrastructuresCreate evolution plans related to Classical Security components as part of Lifecycle management and long-term company strategy plansEnsure security posture within classical and legacy environments Familiarity with network security appliances (e.g., firewalls, proxies, intrusion detection systems)


Threat auditing & Risk Assessment: 

Conduct threat auditing/status exercises to identify and assess potential security risks in cloud environments and in classical network deploymentsPerform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing of cloud resourcesDevelop and maintain risk mitigation strategies


Security Operations: 

Act as an Engineering support to Operation team regarding cloud security events and incidentsInvestigate security alerts and respond to security incidents effectivelyImplement and maintain security monitoring tools and dashboards


Automation & Orchestration: 

Automate security tasks and processes using scripting and automation toolsIntegrate security tools and systems with cloud platforms


Collaboration & Communication: 

Collaborate with platform development teams to ensure security is built into the platform development lifecycle (SDLC)Manage and collaborate with Network Vendors as part of evolution and risk managementCommunicate security risks and recommendations to stakeholders effectivelyStay current on the latest cloud security threats and best practicesWork with UI/UX designer to outline customer journeysMitigate impediments with Scrum master and impact successful team completion of Release/Sprint GoalsWork with Development team on the analysis of features and product backlog increments, ensuring they are all aware of the business value of each itemEnsure user stories are broken down to an adequate level of detail for execution by engineeringSupport the development of and execution of acceptance tests based on acceptance criteria, verifying stories meet acceptance criteriaAnalyse and report delivery risks and opportunitiesWho you are Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Security, or a related field3+ years of experience in cloud security engineering5 Years of Experience with network security concepts (e.g., firewalls, VPNs, Proxies, routing protocols, network segmentation)Relevant industry certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Security, Azure Security Engineer Associate, Juniper, Fortinet)Experience of current and emerging virtualization, infrastructure, and cloud network technologies and architectures such SDN ACI, SD WAN, NSX, Amazon, OCI, Azure, Google networks Experience working closely with agile methodologies, such as Scrum, XP, and with teams leveraging DevOps and Continuous Delivery / IntegrationStrong understanding of IT management best practice frameworks, such as ITIL Professional experience and knowledge of the Telecommunications industry strongly preferredExcellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skillsStrong understanding of cloud computing concepts and technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP)Strong understanding of security concepts (e.g., firewalls, VPNs, Proxies, routing protocols, network segmentation)Good experience with security tools and technologies (e.g., firewalls, intrusion detection systems, WAF, SIEM, endpoint protection)Very good understanding of network elements (e.g., TCP/IP, Routing, HTTP/HTTPS, Layer 2, SDN, SDWAN)Experience with terraform and DevOps practices and tools (CI/CD, GitHUB, ADO)Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Shell)Strong understanding of security principles and best practices Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamUnderstanding of fundamentals of software development processes and procedures, as well as supporting systems and architectureUser story definition and refinement and team backlog managementUser and technical acceptance test design, execution, and validationGood understanding of the business capability / user journey, wider organizational goals, and desired product business outcomesNot a perfect fit?
