Cloud Network Engineer
100% Onsite - W2 only no C2CJob Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cloud Networking Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in cloud networking technologies, with a strong emphasis on IPv6 networking, network design, implementation, and troubleshooting. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to architect and maintain the Department of Transportation’s IPv6 cloud infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and security. The engineer will also support the cloud team in managing and administering cloud networking components. Key Responsibilities + Develop and execute an IPv6 strategy for a multi-cloud environment, including migration plans and adoption roadmaps. + Implement advanced security measures for IPv6 networks, such as firewall policies, intrusion detection systems, and DDoS mitigation. + Collaborate with IT teams and departments to ensure seamless integration of IPv6 networking solutions. + Manage and administer cloud networking components including VPCs, subnets, load balancers, and security groups. + Provide technical guidance to cloud (AWS) team members and modal partners on IPv6 implementation in cloud environments. + Perform daily operations to manage cloud services, including incident and problem resolution using a broad set of tools. + Deliver technical solutions to complex problems requiring analysis of multiple factors. + Ensure solutions are innovative, practical, and aligned with organizational objectives. Qualifications + Minimum 7 years of experience in designing, planning, and integrating cloud computing and networking systems, with a strong focus on IPv6. + High school diploma required. + Strong knowledge of IPv6 addressing, routing, and subnetting. + Familiarity with NAT64 and DNS64 translation services. + Hands-on experience with dual-stack networks. + In-depth understanding of network security principles. + Intermediate proficiency with at least one Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tool such as Terraform or CloudFormation. Additional Requirements + Ability to obtain Position of Public Trust clearance. + Must complete the eApp National Background Investigation Services (NBIS) form. + Must be a U.S. citizen or green card holder with at least 3 years of residency in the U.S. Technical Skills + Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure (preferred but not required) + Networking: IPv6, VPC, subnets, firewalls, Direct Connect, network connectivity + Services: ECS, RDS, EKS, EC2 + Tools: Terraform, CloudFormation Preferred Experience + Hands-on technical experience with AWS networking and IPv6 is required. + Experience with IPv4 to IPv6 migration is preferred but not mandatory. + Candidates must be capable of working in dual-stack environments. + This role is for a Cloud Engineer with networking expertise, not a Network Engineer with cloud experience. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $76.92 - $81.73/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
