Closures Design & Release Engineer

Body Closures Engineer in charge of Side Door Assemblies along with opening and closing related actions. Responsible of component release for closures components like Door Structure, Hinges, Check arms, Moveable Glass, Window Regulator, Glass seals throughout program life cycle, including concept design, supplier engagement, BOM management, systems requirements, simulation analysis, prototyping builds, validation testing, and production support.

Position Qualifications: 

Engineering Degree. Mechanical Engineering degree preferred.English proficiency. Ability to communicate and interact with others.3+ year experience on Body Closures commodities design and/or manufacturing preferred.Formula SAE, Mini-Baja SAE or equivalent project experience preferred. Hands-on experience a plus. Have passion for automotive industry.3D CAD knowledge (opening files, visualization, measurements, etc.). CATIA V5 preferred. Basic knowledge of materials properties.Basic knowledge on production process. 

Skills required for the position: 

Good understanding of vehicle manufacturing and /or design development desired. Fasteners / joint design knowledge and experience desired. Six Sigma methodology/knowledge and CAD knowledge/experience preferred. Able to work, communicate and orchestrate multidisciplinary teams: engineering, test engineering/facilities, manufacturing, vehicle development team, program team and design studio. General knowledge of vehicle functions.

Comply with Program cost, weight, quality, performance, and timing targets. Apply GPDS (Global Product Development System) process. Comply with Robustness Engineering Disciplines (Quality History, P – Diagram, FMEA, etc.) Application of six sigma and 8D Develop Engineering Statement of Work and participate in the Sourcing Process (Supplier Onboard, ED&T review, piece and tooling cost review and CPA Follow the TDR process (Technical Design Review) with Upper Management Release parts in FEDEBOM & WERS (BOM system) through the product life cycle. Support the Change Control Meeting Audit & update BOM (Bill of Materials) with correct part levels and usage, for prototype builds and maintain it post Job-1 Be aware of Worldwide Engineering changes and proceed accordingly. Identify validation, durability and functional test required as per Ford Standards (Design Validation Plan) Provide technical solutions to emerging issues via Ford Automated Issues Management System (AIMS) resolution. Define and verify engineering prototypes requirements at part level. Parts implementation/Sign-off in assembly plant in all milestones Program Direction Letter's revisions and proceed accordingly if affected. Support VQR's, VRT's and PVT teams to solve quality and plant issues as required. Jointly with purchasing, identify potential suppliers to develop identified parts to be localized. Jointly with Supplier Technical Assistant (STA) team give technical assistance to supplier through the Supplier Engagement Process Comply with objectives set during the quarters of year
