Role Overview
A new role, the Global Process Owner (GPO) is responsible for the governance, development and enhancement of the end-to-end Close and Reporting (C&R) globally. The GPO must collaborate with process stakeholders across the organisation, to ensure effective and efficient process operations and identification and leverage of cross-process synergies. The GPO also monitors process performance and prioritises and drives process-related investment decisions and implementation. Additionally, the GPO is accountable for ensuring process compliance with all relevant legislation and company procedures.
We are looking for an experienced Global Process Owner (GPO) for Close & Reporting to lead the design, governance, and transformation of the global financial Close and Reporting processes. This role will be critical in establishing a standardised, timely, and accurate month-end close cycle and management/statutory reporting processes across regions. The GPO will enable consistent execution of financial close and reporting activities from the Finance Shared Service Centre (FSSC), while ensuring global compliance, strong internal controls, and insightful financial analysis aligned with regulatory and business needs.
Role Responsibilities
Process Leadership & Strategy
Transition from existing regional Close & Reporting model to global standardised operating structure
Own and define the end-to-end global Close & Reporting process, covering monthly, quarterly, and annual close, consolidation, intercompany, and financial reporting
Build the monthly close cycle overview to enable us to both report the results and explain how we ensure the reporting is accurate and fit for purpose
Design a scalable and standardised close framework that ensures speed, accuracy, and delivers our OKR of halving the close time by 2027
Set the strategic vision for global reporting capabilities, both internal and external, and integrate these into overall decision-making processes
Line management of a global team across time zones and jurisdictions
Standardisation & Optimisation
Define global close policies, reconciliation standards, materiality thresholds, journal posting cutoffs, and validation rules to ensure consistency across all regions
Implement a standard close checklist and ownership matrix to drive accountability and transparency across global finance teams
Lead initiatives to automate manual close tasks and drive continuous improvement in areas such as journal workflows, intercompany eliminations, and consolidation tools
Technology & Systems Enablement
Partner with IT to enhance ERP (Oracle) and consolidation (OneStream) platforms to enable efficient, accurate, and automated close and reporting processes
Build on existing systems and disparate ways of working to identify the best tool for the job
Lead the implementation of reporting automation, including dashboarding tools like Power BI, Tableau, and other work flow tools to enable better process understanding, monitoring and control including Trintech and Workiva
Compliance & Controls
Ensure all close and reporting processes comply with internal accounting policies, audit requirements, and regulatory standards, including IFRS, GAAP, and SOX Design and monitor internal controls related to journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting accuracy to prevent misstatements and errors
Performance Management
Define KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and SLAs (Service Line Agreements) for close accuracy, timeline adherence, manual journal count, reconciliation completeness, and reporting delivery
Monitor and report performance metrics regularly to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement in the global close process
Stakeholder Engagement
Partner with stakeholders from different teams (e.g., tax, legal and FP&A) to ensure alignment on key close activities and deliverables
Lead governance forums to ensure collaboration, alignment, and decision-making around close process improvements
Change Management & Training
Lead global training and documentation efforts on financial close procedures, close tools, and reporting standards to ensure consistency across the organisation
Drive awareness and adoption of a disciplined, calendar-driven close culture across the enterprise
Experience / Competences
Essential
Extensive years of demonstrated experience in finance operations, with strong focus on Reporting and Close experience
Driven finance operational excellence at pace, balancing risk and control
Working knowledge of IFRS and accounting rules, including consolidation and reporting principles & practices
Solid understanding of internal control frameworks (SOX) and audit requirements
Cross-Cultural Leadership
Must have experience in dealing with C-Suite stakeholders and demonstrable experience of working at pace
Proven experience leading global process ownership, transformation, or standardisation initiatives in a complex, international environment
Clear understanding of financial controls, and cost allocation models across global entities
Desired
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA, Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent) or professional certification (e.g., CPA) is a plus
Proficient in ERP platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday), financial planning (OneStream), automation tools (e.g., Coupa, Alteryx, Ariba, Anaplan, Power BI) and control and governance process & workflow tools (Trintech & Workiva)
