expanding biomedical technological needs of the hospital by utilizing engineering and managerial skills in order to improve and advance patient care Reports to System Director Biomedical Engineering Will build manage and maintain device integration middleware interfacing medical devices to the healthcare system EMR and other systems Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to manage medical device modalities requiring system design networking andor integrationAccountabilitiesSupports current future expansion of inbound and outbound data and alarms from the Patient monitoring systemSupports current and future expansion of inbound and outbound dataalarmsreporting from the supported clinical systems at Hartford HealthcareSupports HHC alarm management initiatives to drive alarm reporting and analytics participating in interdisciplinary committees to reduce alarm fatigue and create workflow efficienciesReviews clinical workflow and collaborates with clinical staff on utilization of medical device systems clinical education with vendors and clinical workflow optimization and human factors engineering as it relates to medical device systems supported by biomedical engineeringDevelops and maintains procedures for capturing relevant equipment and productivity data through departmental and hospital data base systems in order to increase departmental efficiency and to ensure compliance with state federal and JCAHO regulationsParticipates in strategic and budgetary planning of medical technology and Lifecycle pre purchase evaluations and replacement scheduling by performing needs assessment specification analysis negotiations site planning final installation and training to ensure that the appropriate technologies are brought forth and implemented within the organizationReviews and investigates effectiveness of medical equipment service contracts and maintenance insurance programs by applying performance improvement techniques to minimize contracted expenses while providing expanded support for the growing network of Connecticut Health SystemsInvestigates medical device related incidents to determine causes and proposeimplement preventive measures training programs and policies to meet regulations and ensure a safe environmentParticipates in the design and implementation of research activities utilizing technology to improve patient care delivery and safetyWorks effectively as a team member with department and across the clinical setting to provide quality service to hospital units through communication cooperation and collaborationDemonstrates competencies including knowledge and behaviors to meet age specific patient needsWill work to develop implement and monitor change release management configuration management data and system security and event managementFacilitate an effort to train coach and or mentor department technicians to develop their competencyIs part of an On Call team that provide coverage Work
