As a Clinical Speech Pathologist Fellow, you will perform diagnostic speech pathology test procedures and evaluate communication and swallowing functions of patients throughout this one-year experience. This includes interpreting and reporting test results to facilitate medical diagnosis, providing counseling and education about communication and the diagnosis to patients and their families, and determining therapeutic plans, including the need for therapy, frequency of treatment, focus for intervention, prognosis and duration of therapy.
**A caregiver in this position works varying days from 8:00AM - 5:00PM.**
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Provide clinical services to patients.
+ Perform diagnostic speech pathology test procedures and evaluate communication and swallowing function of patients under the supervision of a Senior Clinical Speech Pathologist.
+ Interpret and report test results to facilitate medical diagnosis.
+ Provide counseling and education about communication and the diagnosis to patients and families.
+ Determine therapeutic plans, including the need for therapy, frequency of treatment, focus for intervention, prognosis and duration of therapy.
+ Select assistive speech devices to improve the patient's communication.
+ Perform re-evaluation to determine progress after therapy.
+ Provide observations about hearing and other behaviors to help determine the need for other services.
+ Maintain records of all services.
+ Communicate results and recommendations for improving communicative function to referral sources and outside agencies such as schools and employers.
+ Maintain speech pathology equipment and materials.
+ Assist with planning, budget, service or project development, fee setting, purchase of new equipment or materials.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology
+ Hold or be eligible for a Speech-Language Pathology Conditional License (COND.SP) from the State Board of Speech Language Pathology & Audiology
+ Hold Conditional License in the state of Ohio upon start date
+ Meet all academic and practicum guidelines established by the American Speech Language Hearing Association, for Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)
**Physical Requirements:**
+ Ability to stand for long periods of time.
+ Manual dexterity and visual acuity to perform tests.
**Personal Protective Equipment:**
+ Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
**Pay Range**
Minimum hourly: $22.85
Maximum hourly: $34.85
