**Location** : Orlando, FL
**The role you'll contribute:**
The Clinical Pharmacist supports the mission of the department, hospital, and health-system by preventing, identifying, and resolving medication use issues to assure patient safety, improve patient satisfaction, optimize patient outcomes, and minimize costs. The role involves working in both centralized and decentralized areas, performing all functions of a registered pharmacist including accurate and timely dispensing, clinical interactions with patients and the healthcare team, and technician supervision. This position is responsible for developing and providing clinical pharmacy services to the general patient population, supervising pharmacy technicians to ensure correct and timely medication dispensing and ensuring medication therapies are appropriate for patients based on a variety of factors. Additionally, the Clinical Pharmacist interprets prescriptions and medication orders, acts as a drug information resource, compounds and dispenses prescribed medications, and participates in patient care rounds and medication management. Responsibilities also include assisting with the daily operation of the pharmacy department, participating in performance improvement activities, educating staff, managing adverse drug events, participating in quality improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulations, and engaging in continuous professional development. The role requires collaboration with healthcare teams to ensure the safe and effective use of medications and maintain efficient pharmacy operations.

+ Clinical Duties: Provide clinical and patient focused education on new specialty and non-specialty therapies. Review therapies for side effects, clinical appropriateness, and drug interactions. Track patients and monitor for positive clinical outcomes, making suggestions in therapy changes based on patients response and pertinent lab values.
+ Patient Clinical Management Program: Loads and monitors patients within Therigy or other patient clinical management program. Conducts consultations, patient onboardings, clinical follow-up and guidance on new and continued therapies.
+ Pharmacist Duties: Coordination of prescription processing and dispensing of medication in the Retail Pharmacy. Greets patient at pharmacy counter and fills in clinical patient information (DOB, allergies, and pediatric weight, etc.) or supervises staff insame. Interprets accurately all prescriptions received, checking for appropriateness of medication dose, strength, route of administration, frequency, proper prescribing directions, etc. Screens prescription and profile for drug allergies, interactions, contraindications, duplication of therapy, non-compliance and other drug related problems. Contacts and confers with physician immediately if there are any questions or irregularities regarding the prescription. Makes appropriate suggestions to patient or family member regarding drug therapy during counseling session. Calculates accurately drug dosages when needed to assure appropriate dispensing. Prepares accurately and completely labels, dispenses medications and/or supervises technician in doing same. Exhibits good aseptic technique in preparation of extemporaneous medications and/or supervises technician in doing same. Checks prescription before final dispensing to patient; checks drug label for accuracy against original prescription, stock container(s) and patient profile. Dispenses narcotics accurately in compliance with all appropriate requirements and/or supervises technician in doing it. Maintains accurate computer records of medications dispensed. Performs clinical review on all outgoing prescriptions and verifies that all necessary information is on the written prescription.
+ Provides medication information to physicians, office personnel and patients, giving advice on proper drug utilization, interactions, side effects, etc. Gives written recommendations regarding medications as needed. Answers patients' questions regarding drug interactions, allergic reactions, or any other drug-related issue. Counsels patients, at the time of dispensing medication in regards to all necessary information for the proper use of their medications. Efforts are made to enhance patient compliance and medical care.
+ Contributes to the management and efficient operation of the pharmacy, including financial aspects. Contributes ideas to improve patient care and pharmacy organization. Plans and manages time in order to complete work assignments within scheduled time frame so that assistance may be given to other team members when need or as directed. Demonstrates ability to work effectively under pressure and stress. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Read memos and participates in staff meetings. Delegates tasks to pharmacy technicians and students as appropriate and checks their work carefully. Takes time to understand new policies and procedures. Aids in training support staff, new pharmacists, and pharmacy students. Opens and closes the pharmacy as scheduled. Assists in ordering medications from wholesalers or other vendors and supervises technician in doing same.
+ Participates in activities designed for professional growth. Utilizes available educational materials, programs, and literature and resource personnel for professional development. Maintains licensure requirements in accordance with Florida Law to include at least 15 hours of approved Continuing Education hours per year. Demonstrates knowledge of the levels of growth, development, and skills for all age groups [Neonate/Infant (0-<1yr.), Pediatric (1-<12yrs.), Adolescent (12-<18yrs.), Geriatric (65 yrs.)].
+ Fills out appropriate clinical intervention form completely on all problems identified. Identifies outcome/result of intervention whenever possible, including cost reduction dosage reduction, improvement in therapeutic outcome (better disease control, etc.). Participates in quarterly CQI meetings and makes suggestions for process improvement to reduce the risk of mediation errors.
+ Professional development: remain current in all pharmacy related business and other necessary policies and procedures to insure consistent quality of knowledge and performance. Attend scheduled department meetings. Read memos and posted changes. Participate in hospital or department in-service programs or continuing education programs as requested by supervisor.
+ Regulatory Compliance: Understand Medicare/Medicaid regulations and billing guidelines as they pertain to patient pharmacy benefits. Understand billing of primary, secondary and tertiary insurance claims. Resolve any billing issues and initiate Prior Authorizations for medications when applicable. Assist in complete and accurate billing of third party pay plans in accordance with all legal requirements, regulatory agencies and AdventHealth Outpatient Pharmacy Policies and procedures. Complete required continuing education to maintain current licensure as required by the state board of pharmacy in your practice state.
+ Disaster plan involevment: understand disaster plan according to department policy. Participate in Disaster operations by reporting to the outpatient pharmacy when requested. Facilitate the efficient operation of the department by being available and prepared to work during scheduled working hours in order to meet approved staffing levels.

**Qualifications** :
+ Doctorate Required
+ Ability to communicate to physician or office personnel regarding prescription issues or benefit related issues in a professional manner.
+ Displays superior customer service skills and acts as a role model when communicating with partners, clients, patients or physician's office personnel on the phone and must be able to retain composure under pressure to achieve positive outcomes.
+ Understanding of evidenced based medicine, advanced pharmacy practice, and patient based care.
+ Good working knowledge of pharmacy laws and Outpatient Pharmacy processes.
+ Good decision-making skills, including expert problem-solving skills, problem analysis, and discernment under pressure.
+ Ability to develop and leverage relationships within and across work groups to achieve results.
+ Ability to supervise pharmacy technician personnel.
+ Effectively manages one's time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently.
+ Flexibility and willingness to adapt to change as necessary.
+ Intermediate to advanced skill set in MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
+ Retail and Specialty pharmacy experience preferred.
+ Bilingual Preferred
+ Licensed Pharmacist (RPH) Required
