We have a new opportunity for a Clinical Specialist, Vision Care to join our team. In this exciting career opportunity, your primary role is to support health care professionals (HCP) with their continuing education to improve their knowledge and skills through the implementation and execution of training programs, will drive multiple aspects of the environment, health, safety requirements and policies. You will also be responsible for programs focused on product administration training for glaucoma, best practices sharing and education on patients’ safety in clinics, through virtual learning programs, one-on-one simulation workshops, and exposure to subject matter experts. This role is a national field-based position, from the province of Quebec, and reports to the Senior Manager, Clinical Specialist.
Key responsibilities
Responsible for developing and executing training programs for HCPs against therapeutic area (Glaucoma disease) strategic imperatives.Perform baseline and ongoing assessments, to identify training needs and to develop tailored training curriculum and plans to address the HCP’s needs.Coach and support healthcare professionals through their learning journey and make mutually agreed determinations as to when they have met their learning objectives,Deliver follow-up training and/or coordinate additional support with clinical experts to ensure timely response to HCPs requests for additional clinical support and guidance.Build and facilitate efficient and comprehensive medical training sessions, including organizing surgical training and organizing educational wet labs.Communicate effectively with cross-functional team members.Provide expertise on product, disease, and anatomy for current and future AbbVie products for the Vision Care business unit.Offer unaccredited healthcare professionals facilitated programs focused on addressing HCPs learning needs related to scientific and/or clinical issues for vision care (i.e., product administration techniques, monitoring and management of patient treatment).Establish and maintain strong business relationships with key external experts, and act as the key point of contact with customers and external experts for clinical training requirements.This role supports the Vision care therapeutic area, in alignment with Innovation Medicines Canada (IMC) guidelines and AbbVie’s health care compliance principles.Qualifications
Education / Experience required:
Licensed Health Care Professional (e.g. Registered Nurse, Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist, Certified Ophthalmic Technician JCAHPO certified). Relevant surgical glaucoma disease expertise:Experience in the pharmaceutical or medical devices industry, and fields related to training (minimum of five years) considered an asset.Solid clinical and scientific knowledge of the therapeutic area glaucoma disease.Strong knowledge of the eye anatomy.Knowledge of principles of adult learning and IMC guidelines. Strong commitment to compliance, quality and integrity and working knowledge of the health care environment and its evolving landscape.Understanding of the Canadian regulatory environment.Essential skills and abilities:
Advance level with technology tools in project management is an asset.Advanced presentation skills and knowledge of power point.Excellent communication skills, with strong listening and interpersonal expertise.Advanced French and English language proficiency (oral and written).Must be able to travel extensively and adhere to a rigorous schedule (up to 60% including weekends and evenings).Key leadership:
