Job Description Job Summary
The Clinical Resource Nurse supports high-quality, patient-centered care by providing guidance, mentorship, and education to nursing staff across multiple units. This role focuses on promoting professional growth, ensuring adherence to nursing best practices, and facilitating compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards. The Clinical Resource Nurse serves as a resource for clinical expertise, fostering teamwork and enhancing the overall quality of patient care.
Essential FunctionsPerforms rounds on nursing units, observing and assessing the quality of patient care, identifying educational needs, and providing real-time feedback and guidance. Supports nursing staff with patient assessments, care planning, and troubleshooting specific clinical skills or equipment. Mentors and educates new graduate nurses and nurses transitioning to new specialties, ensuring alignment with the hospital's standards of practice and policies. Facilitates and leads debriefs following rapid responses and code events, offering education, coaching, and direction as needed. Tracks and analyzes requests for clinical assistance to identify trends and develop targeted education and orientation enhancements. Collaborates with unit leadership to identify and address nursing skill gaps and opportunities for professional development. Promotes compliance with accrediting and regulatory agency requirements by educating staff on policies, procedures, and best practices. Fosters teamwork and collaboration across units, contributing to a positive work environment and team goals. Serves as a clinical expert and resource for nursing staff, sharing knowledge and facilitating learning opportunities.Performs other duties as assigned. Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Complies with all policies and standards.Qualifications3-5 years of clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting required 1-2 years of experience in a leadership role preferred 1-2 years of experience as a preceptor preferred Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesStrong clinical expertise across various nursing specialties and practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to mentor, educate, and collaborate effectively. Ability to provide constructive feedback and foster professional growth in nursing staff. Proficiency in using healthcare technology, including electronic health records and clinical equipment. Analytical skills to identify trends and develop targeted education plans. Knowledge of accrediting and regulatory standards and ability to ensure compliance. Leadership skills to influence and inspire nursing teams.Licenses and CertificationsRN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required BCLS - Basic Life Support required ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support required
