Job Summary:\rThe Clinical Pharmacy Specialist Pain Management is responsible for providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care to patients through clinical services, formulary management, development of policies and procedures, and integrated drug distribution. Individual will be responsible for precepting pharmacy students and residents and orienting new staff pharmacists. Individual may be responsible for providing recommendations and/or assuming responsibility for patient care activities, pharmacokinetics, nutrition support, or other medication regimens as prescribed by provider.\rCore Responsibilities and Essential Functions:\rProviding recommendations and/or assuming responsibility for pain management related activities or other medication regimens as prescribed by physician.\ra. Document clinical interventions on an ongoing basis.\rb. Demonstrate a basic understanding of distributive responsibilities including computer functions.\rc. Provide recommendations and/or manage pain medications or other medication regimens as prescribed by the provider.\rd. Round with interdisciplinary teams (where applicable)\re. Provide on-call clinical pharmacy services as needed.\rf. Perform medication management activities as outlined per Wellstar policies.\rEducational responsibilities\ra. Provide drug information when needed or requested.\rb. Develop and provide educational programs/inservices for health care practitioners and patients as required.\rc. Participate as a preceptor/instructor for students from accredited colleges/schools of pharmacy.\rd. Serve as a preceptor/instructor for the Pharmacy Residency Program (where applicable).\re. Assist in developing drug protocols\rParticipate on assigned committees.\ra. Participate as a member of the Wellstar Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee, as well as other System and facility-specific committees as assigned or as deemed necessary.\rb. Identify target medications/therapies, develop criteria, and implement data collection for Medication Use Evaluations (MUE) and other pain management-related studies/initiatives. Tabulate and present completed MUE data to the P&T Committee.\rc. Assist in formulary maintenance by critiquing new entities, comparing medication classes, and developing therapeutic interchanges where applicable.\rd. Assist in preparing for and maintaining compliance with regulatory agency (e.g., The Joint Commission) standards/requirements.\re. Monitor quality metrics related to pain management patients and develop improvement strategies as necessary\rPerforms other duties as assigned\rComplies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.\rRequired Minimum Education:\rBachelor's Degree Graduate from an accredited college of pharmacy\rDoctorate from an accredited college of pharmacy\r\rRequired Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):\rAll certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.RPH - Reg Pharmacist\rAdditional License(s) and Certification(s):\rLicensed by, and in good standing with, the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy or ability to obtain a Georgia State Board of Pharmacy License within 6 months of hire date within 180 Days Required and\rBoard Certification (e.g., BCPS, BCGP, etc.) Preferred\rSpecialty credentialing (e.g., Certified Pain Educator) Preferred\rRequired Minimum Experience:\rMinimum 3 years years clinical experience or Completion of a PGY-1 Residency Required or\rMinimum 2 years years of clinical pharmacy experience in Pain Management/Palliative Care or Completion of a PGY2 Pain Management/Palliative Care Residency Preferred and\rExperience with substance use disorder, geriatrics, and/or oncology Preferred and\rExperience with nutrition support, anticoagulation management, and pharmacokinetics Preferred\rRequired Minimum Skills:\rStrong verbal and written communication skills High\rStrong computer skills.
