The Inpatient Pharmacist supports general pharmacy operations at Main Campus, primarily working within the central inpatient pharmacy located in the main building. This role contributes to medication distribution, order verification, and overall inpatient workflow across a large, complex hospital environment. Caregivers may have opportunities to cross-train and float to specialized areas such as the Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute (HVTI) and the IV room, gaining broader clinical and operational exposure. The team is close-knit and collaborative, offering a supportive environment with opportunities to work alongside automation specialists and develop skills that can lead to future growth in areas such as pharmacy informatics or analytics.
A caregiver in this position will work 11:00am to 10:30pm on a 7on/7off schedule with every other weekend required. Further requirements include one holiday per year. No on-call expectations.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide safe, efficient, patient-centered, evidence-based medication services. Verify medication orders and/or dispenses medications accurately according to state and federal regulations. Document services in a complete, accurate and timely manner. Actively contribute to medication safety initiatives. Ensure all pharmacy operations are in compliance with national accreditation standards. Directs staff appropriately to provide safe and efficient care and maintain professional working relationships with all caregivers. Educate and train students, residents, other caregivers and/or patients.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
PharmD or Bachelor’s of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy Current State licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible for reciprocation in current state within 90 days of hire Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross for individuals required to administer immunizationsPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Board Certification Completion of a post-graduate year 1 residency (PGY1), fellowship or relevant post-graduate pharmacy experience preferred.Post-graduate year 2 residency (PGY2) or relevant experience preferred for Clinical Pharmacists hired in a Specialized Pharmacy practice areaPhysical Requirements:
Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time. Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 30 lbs.Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting.Must have normal or corrected vision.Must have ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in personPersonal Protective Equipment:
