Clinical Perfusionist

Job Summary
Provides patient care in the form of life-saving and sustaining operation of the extracorporeal circulation equipment during any medical situation where it is necessary to support or replace a person's circulatory, and/or respiratory function. The Perfusionist selects the most appropriate equipment and techniques necessary for support, treatment, and measurement of the circulatory system of the patient, including the safe monitoring, drug administration, analysis, and treatment of physiologic conditions under an order and/or supervision of a physician(s).

Essential Functions
Sets up, operates and maintains physiological pressure monitoring devices, the heart-lung machine, the intra-aortic balloon pump, ventricular assist devices along with other systems used during the surgical procedure.Performs laboratory procedures as needed.Documents actions / clinical parameters / responses in a manner consistent with documentation standards.Cleans and maintains equipment / supplies and communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate people.Documents patient chargeable items according to standards.
QualificationsRequired Bachelor's Degree or equivalent Graduate of a CAAHEP approved program of Perfusion Technology Preferred Master's Degree Perfusion Science2 years of relevant experience Certified Clinical Perfusionist Preferred Pediatric Perfusionist Preferred Skills, knowledge, abilities typically gained through mechanical circulatory training support PreferredCRT-Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) - ABCP American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion 1 Year required
