**Pay Range:** $49.53 - $78.02 per hour

**Summary:**
The scope of practice of the Pharmacist, Clinical and Operations includes evaluating pharmacotherapy, Epic order verification, oversight of technician drug preparation and distribution, and coordination of medication deliveries. In addition, a strong pharmacotherapy knowledge base is necessary to optimize patient therapy. This individual may work in several operational areas including the Central Pharmacy, Operating Room Pharmacy satellites, or clean rooms. This will include troubleshooting drug shortages, coordinate sick call coverage, and providing leadership and feedback to technicians and other staff. The individual must display maturity, independence, initiative, and strong verbal communication skills. In addition, the individuals will exemplify Rush, mission, vision, and values and act in accordance with Rush policies and procedures. This position will work evening shift, Monday through Friday and this will include on-site and remove order verification opportunities. This role will include rotating AM and PM shifts (approximately 50% each) and every fourth weekend staffing.
**Principal Duties and Responsibilities:**
1. Provide patient-specific pharmacotherapy recommendations and drug information to the medical and nursing staff.
2. Evaluate and verify Epic provider orders for therapeutic appropriateness, proper dosing, optimal dosage form, drug interactions, allergic reactions, route and rate of administration and therapeutic redundancy.
3. Clarify provider orders, when necessary, through direct and timely contact with prescriber or designated practitioner.
4. Document Epic clinical interventions.
5. Oversight of workflows operations in assigned areas, including but not limited to oral and parenteral medication checking
6. Perform daily review of specified pharmacy dashboard reports including pharmacokinetic monitoring, and other drug or patient specific reports, as necessary.
7. Precepting of IPPE and APPE students on rotation
8. Conduct monthly nursing unit inspections of medication storage areas as assigned.
9. Supervise pharmacy technician staff involved in the preparation and delivery of medications ensuring coordination of workflows with established delivery schedules. t
10. Coordinate medication ordering, preparation, dispensing, and administration systems.
11. Participate in SE (ADR and medication error) reporting programs.
12. Implement all drug use policy and formulary decisions of the Pharmacy, Nutrition and Therapeutics committee
13. Maintain working knowledge of medical center and departmental policies and procedures.
14. Participate in Code Blue situations, as required.
15. Conduct or participate in medication use evaluations, quality improvement projects, or medical center or pharmacy department committees.
16. Demonstrate the ability to prioritize work to optimize resources.
17. Demonstrate skill in customer service.
**Required Job Qualifications:**
• One year of hospital pharmacy experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be flexible with work schedule.
• Dependable attendance and job performance.
• License or license-eligible in the State of Illinois.
