Clinical Nurse III - Radiation Oncology

Position Summary

The Outpatient Radiation Oncology Nurse provides specialized, compassionate nursing care to patients receiving radiation therapy for cancer and other conditions. This role supports patients through initial consultation, treatment planning, daily therapy sessions, and follow-up visits. The nurse functions as a key member of the multidisciplinary care team, ensuring high-quality clinical care, effective communication, and continuity of care throughout the treatment journey. This opportunity is for full-time, 8-hour shifts (5 shifts per week), and designated for the day shift.  

Sign-on Bonus up to $20,000

As a successful candidate, you will: 

Patient Assessment & Care PlanningPerform comprehensive nursing assessments including physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs.Monitor and document patient responses to radiation treatment.Collaborate with radiation oncologists and other providers to develop individualized care plans.Identify and manage radiation-related side effects, escalating concerns when appropriate.Patient Education & SupportEducate patients and families on the radiation therapy process, potential side effects, self-care strategies, and symptom management.Provide emotional support and counseling to patients coping with a cancer diagnosis and treatment.Serve as a consistent point of contact to coordinate care and answer patient inquiries.Clinical Coordination & CollaborationCoordinate care with other healthcare team members including medical oncologists, radiologists, social workers, dietitians, and other nurses.Assist with patient referrals, lab orders, diagnostic imaging, and follow-up scheduling.Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and tumor boards as needed.Treatment SupportAssist during simulation and treatment planning sessions as needed.Perform nursing procedures such as venipuncture, port access, medication administration, and wound care.Monitor and manage oncologic emergencies and acute changes in condition.Documentation & ComplianceMaintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).Ensure compliance with institutional policies, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements.Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain continuing education in oncology nursing.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include: 

Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree in Nursing is required.Minimum of three (3) years related experienceCurrent California RN licenseBasic Life Support (BLS) CPR Card through American Heart Association
