Description

Based on the NMH framework for practice, the registered professional clinical nurse (RN) is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of clinically competent, evidence-based care for an assigned group of patients that includes diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation and evaluation. The nurse adheres to the ANA Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing, the Code of Ethics, and the Nursing Social Policy Statement. As a member of the clinical care and unit team, the RN participates in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve exceptional outcomes and enhance unit operations.

Responsibilities:
Performs emergent or scheduled urgent procedures during on-call hours (8pm- 7:30a, weekends and holidays) when scheduled on callProvide on call coverage as scheduledPreform apheresis procedures in both ambulatory and inpatient settingsAssess patients pre, during and post procedures and therapies to observe mild, moderate and severe Apheresis and non-Apheresis related complications and notifying the appropriate provider to escalate careDelivers evidence based safe and effective care in a timely mannerAccurately documents all pertinent procedure information in EpicEnsures all consents and education have been completed prior to initiating a procedure or therapyResponsible for ensuring equipment preventative maintenance is current prior to use, disinfect machine, room surfaces and equipment necessary for patient care according to policyAssist with inventory control processMaintain safe, neat and adequately stocked supplies in patient roomsResponsible for completing daily tasks when assigned in a timely mannerActs as a resource for other staffAssist with training of newer staffReview and adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements for standard of care procedures and clinical trialsUtilizing assistive devices for patient carePosition involves moving of patients and/or equipmentDemonstrates ability to prioritize patient care and adapt to changes in assignment in response to new and urgent casesResponsible for successful completion of initial and annual trainings and competencies in cellular therapies, apheresis procedures, department services, and clinical trialsIndependently preform cellular therapy collections and infusionsDemonstrate ability to maintain chain-of-custody and chain-of-identity when handling and managing products involving human tissuePreform other duties as assignedQualifications
Required:
Graduate of an NLN accredited school/college of nursingBaccalaureate degree in Nursing or higherCurrent State of Illinois, Registered Professional Nurse licenseBasic Life Support (BLS) CPR through American Heart Association.
