Job Summary: 

Under the direction of the AVP, Transplant Clinical Services, CBMC, the Clinical Manager RN, Transplant Procurement Services, has responsibilities as follows:  

Supervision of clinical staff within the Pre-Transplant procurement services for all RWJBarnabas Health Transplant Programs to monitor and address staff assignments, performance, and personal issues/concerns.  Manages staff scheduling, assignments, time and attendance. Oversight of staff scheduling to support 24/7 organ procurement servicesManages coverage issues 24/7; if not available, then responsibility will be delegated  Provides orientation for all new procurement team members. Schedules and organizes ongoing education relevant to the role Completion of annual performance evaluations for direct reports  Provides leadership role in staff and process review meetings Responsible for related policy and procedures in collaboration with AVP, Transplant Clinical Services Holds regular meetings with staff to identify and solve problems Assists with selection/monitoring of performance improvement indicators. 

Time study is required for proper allocation to Organ Acquisition Cost Center only if duties are split between pre and post.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Participates in the development of appropriate clinical protocols and related policies and procedures in collaboration with the AVP, Transplant Clinical Services in the Pre-Transplant from review through organization and delegation of responsibilities Reviews results of chart audits with staff and monitors for quality improvement and compliance with specified indicators.Participates in preparation/delivery of disciplinary actions for supervisees in collaboration with AVP, Clinical ServicesCompletes annual performance evaluations for all supervisees.Acts as a liaison to the Sharing Network and other OPOs as needed, and represents the Transplant Division/RWJBH Transplant programs at the NJ Transplant Collaborative meetings.Ensures pre-transplant and research areas are survey ready for both internal and external reviews (environmental, TJC, CMS, OPTN etc.).Oversees On-Call schedules, processes, and takes procurement and/or on-call responsibilities (24hr responsibility) as needed, coordinating acceptance and procurement of organs with the transplant physicians through The Sharing Network.Takes the lead role in transplant team meetings, voicing opinions and problem-solving as appropriate.Acts as a liaison between transplant coordinators, transplant physicians, transplant consultants and ancillary staff in providing continuity of care to patients and families.Provides leadership role in patient care conferences related to procurement call servicesProvides ongoing in-service and continuing education programs on transplantation to other healthcare professionals, patients and members of the community.Facilitates the planning of the Transplant Surgeon Designee Program as well as Patient Symposia with the administrative team.  Prepares and provides lectures on nursing aspects of transplantation for the Program(s) as requested.Acts as liaison between the Cooperman Barnabas Transplant Program, The Sharing Network and OPTN.  Completes necessary documentation for tissue typing, candidate listing, donor/recipient cross-match etc. through The Sharing Network and OPTN as appropriate.Participates in continuous quality improvement in all areas of the transplant department as it relates to overall patient care/satisfaction as well as department operations. Offers constructive suggestions for improvement to the administrative team, participating in the implementation of all performance improvement processesParticipates in Transplant Department outreach initiatives including such things as off-site patient care activities, educational programs for referring MDs/dialysis units and providing presentations/lectures in areas of expertise.

Education/Training/Certification/Licensure:

Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey.Bachelor’s Degree required, MSN preferred.Basic Life Support (BLS) via American Heart AssociationCertified Clinical Transplant Coordinator (CCTC) certification preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience with the CKD population, pre-transplant coordination, organ offer procurement and supervision responsibilities required.   Experience in dialysis preferred.Successful completion of all Orientation Programs.

Special Equipment/Skills:

Must seek and maintain in-depth knowledge of transplantation.  Excellent clinical and interpersonal skills.  Proficiency with computers is helpful.
