Clinical Exercise Physiologist II

Baylor Scott and White Rock Prairie Clinic / College Station Hospital- 1st floor:  
Address: 700 Scott & White Drive, College Station, TX 77845
Mon -Fri : Tues/Thurs 7:30 – 4p;  Mon/Wed 8a-5p; Fri 8a-12pm May do 1 rotating Saturday a month 8a-12p.
Covers Phase I & II.  Including post op, stress tests, blood pressure monitoring, taking vitals.  Direct Patient Care required. 
Graduate of an exercise Physiology/Kinesiology related program with cardiac rehab clinical experience required.
New grads welcomed!  
EKG Tech/Stress Test experience preferred.

Job Summary

\n

The Exercise Physiologist 2 is accountable for coordinating, planning, and directing preventative and rehabilitative health care for patients. This position provides patient care by observing and assessing the patient's condition, performing patient care interventions and testing, evaluating the results of care and medications administered, and educating patients and their families about the nature, care, and treatment of the patient's condition.

\n

Essential Functions of the Role

\n\nProvides patient care by observing and assessing the patient's condition; performing patient care interventions, evaluating the results of care, exercise, and medications administered; and educating patients and their families about the nature, care, and treatment of the patient's condition and disease management.\nAssesses the condition of assigned patients by obtaining the patient's medical history through written reports, interviewing the patient and/or family members, and through observation.\nDevelops exercise prescriptions consistent with the assessment of the patient's condition and complementary to the medical plan of care and the patient's goals.\nPerforms appropriate exercise tolerance testing on various patient populations and follows appropriate procedures and guidelines when performing tests.\nImplements a plan of care by teaching the patient how to perform the prescribed exercises.\nReassesses and evaluates the patient's response to exercise and modifies exercise prescription as needed.\nWorks closely with other team members in coordinating the care administered.\nDocuments pertinent assessment information, treatment activities, and patient outcomes in the patient record (manual and/or computer entry).\nInforms appropriate team members and family spokesperson of pertinent changes in the patient's condition.\nEducates patients and family members by communicating about treatments administered, the priorities for the patient, and necessary steps for continuing patient care and rehabilitation as well as home guidelines.\nConsoles patients and family members and responds to their concerns.\nCommunicates effectively with team members in order to gather and exchange information related to patient assessment, outcome, and the planning and implementation of care plans.\nHelps activities of clinical care technicians and other unit help personnel.\nParticipates in patient care conferences.\nAssists in developing and implementing discharge instructions and home programs.\nResearches, develops, and delivers educational programs for patients, patient families, team members, student interns, community groups, and other interested health care professionals.\nDevelops educational tools such as handouts, pamphlets, booklets, etc.\nMaintains knowledge of current trends related to exercise physiology and cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation and contributes to the learning experience of students in health professions.\nParticipates in the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) processes and other quality monitoring and improvement activities in order to better serve the customer needs and to improve the quality of services provided.\nOversees the exercise testing activities. Trains Exercise Physiologists 1 in proper procedures for exercise testing and formulating exercise programs.\nDocuments knowledge of Exercise Physiologists 1 in the area of exercise evaluation/prescription and fitness instruction.\nMay interact with other hospital managers to provide educational lectures for staff, fitness members, and community.\n\n

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION - Masters' or Bachelors plus 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualificationEXPERIENCE - 1 Year of Experience

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION

Basic Life Support (BLS): Must have BLS and ACLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
