**Job Summary and Qualifications**
As the Registered Dietician, you will assist in providing optimal nutritional care for patients and/or residents. You will coordinate food service activities involving diet preferences, supplements, restrictions and basic diet instructions. You will develop departmental schedules, budget, policies and procedures.
+ You will assist with on-the job training
+ You will supervise the planning of daily menus for therapeutic diets
+ You will evaluate the nutritional care of patients concurrently and retrospectively (inpatients and outpatients)
+ You will document the medical records, via computer, of all patients on therapeutic diets and others where feasible
+ You will record, via computer, the dietary history of patients identifying food allergies, those unable to accept a limited diet regimen and others where appropriate
+ You will interview and counsel patients, their families and/or other appropriate persons
+ You will discharge diet instructions to patients and their families and/or appropriate person
+ You will record daily visits and evaluations for the diet office.
+ You will calculate patient calorie intake and protein needs.
+ You will participate in rounds, conferences, committees and staff meetings when appropriate
+ You will maintain a good working relationship with physicians, professional nurses, related nursing services personnel, food service workers and others. Tact, cooperation and confidentiality are essential
+ You will provide Diabetes education on glucometer and insulin instruction (if a diabetes instructor).
+ You will order an appropriate amount of food and supplies to avoid shortage or excess
+ You will provide nutrition counseling for Executive Wellness program
**What qualifications you will need:**
+ 1 year of food service supervision and one-year acute clinical hospital experience
+ Bachelor of Science in Nutrition with successful completion of American Dietetic Association (ADA) approved internship or coordinated undergraduate program
+ Registered Dietitian (R.D.) credential
+ Licensed Dietitian (L.D.) with the Texas State Board of Examiners of Dieticians
