I.              Position Summary:

Assists the Labor & Delivery Director with the responsibility and accountability for the management and coordination of the unit.  Emphasis on independent decision making related to the nursing process.  Demonstrates the ability to provide consistent direction for all nursing personnel in planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating nursing practices.  

II.            Position Relationships:

A.        Responsible to:                    Labor & Delivery Director

B.        Workers Supervised:           Professional licensed and non-licensed                                                                                                personnel

C.        Interrelationships:                Works closely with patients, families and health

care team.  Frequent interaction with unit staff, hospital departments and administration.
