Job Summary

The University of Michigan School of Nursing (UMSN) invites applications for a full-time, 12-month clinical track faculty position beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year. We seek accomplished board-certified Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Pracitioners, educators and clinical scholars with a strong foundation in advanced practice, a commitment to excellence in teaching, and evidence of clinically relevant scholarship and increasing service to the profession and/or academic community. Applicants should have experience teaching in undergraduate and/or graduate nursing programs and be actively engaged in clinical practice. Preference will be given to Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioners with expertise in emergency or trauma care, surgical units, neruology, oncology, women's health, or family health.

Candidates must demonstrate commitment to student mentorship, innovative clinical education, and the integration of teaching, practice, scholarship and service. Interest in global health practice is desirable. Courses are delivered in person, and this is an on-site position.

The search will be conducted during the 2025-2026 academic year, with application reviews beginning in September 2025 and continuing through December 2025. Applicants will be considered for the ranks listed above, dependent on applicant experience and scholarship productivity.

Required Qualifications*Doctorate in NursingA nursing license in the State of Michigan is required for this position (current licensure or willingness to obtain licensure).A specialy certification in the State of Michigan is required for this position. You must hold an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Board Certification (AGACNP-BC or ACNPC-AG) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center or from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.Demonstrated excellent communication, networking and relationship building skills.Demonstrated ability to particpate in the development and implementation of innovative curricular activities.Demonstrated clinical teaching ability with experience in both clinical and didactic courses at the graduate level preferred.Current clinical experience in a practice relevant role.Evidence of increasing service to the profession and academic community.Collaborate with faculty regarding visionary educational programs.A record of scholarly attainment in the area of advanced practice nursing which may include publications, evidence-based practice guidelines and other forms of scholarship such as preparing grant applications.Prior to the start date must be in compliance with all health requirements including standard precautions such as Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, orientations, licenses/certifications, policies, and procedures both internal and external to the University for your assigned classroom(s) and/or clinical site(s).Ability to promote the School of Nursing's  Declaration of Values to Empower each other to interrupt or disrupt disrespect; Practice communication that is beneficial, kind and true; Inspire and be inspired by our members' worth, significance and integrity; Cultivate respect for ourselves and others routinely, publicly and privately.
