Utilizes written MercyOne-North Iowa policies/procedures and universal precautions to properly collect, handle and store blood and other body fluid from patients as indicated above under “Age of Patients Served”.
Performs all assigned tests with expected precision and accuracy, following all CLIA regulations.
Reports in-house final results to medical staff including immediate notification of any critical values.
Maintains, calibrates, and troubleshoots laboratory equipment with accurate records of service.
Obtains assistance from Regional Laboratory Technical Consultant or Regional Laboratory Manager, if needed.
Performs records and evaluates all required quality control results. Performs proficiency testing.
Prepares and processes specimens for testing including accurate documentation when ordering for reference lab testing.
Maintains records and logs as required by regulatory agencies including controls, proficiency testing, work logs, temperature recording, maintenance records, and updates in policy/procedure manuals.
Education:
1. High School Diploma and graduate of a medical assistant program with certification, or non-
licensed graduate radiology tech, or high school graduate with phlebotomy experience.
Experience:
1. Previous laboratory experience is preferred.
