Responsible for supporting Wealth Management client-facing teams in the implementation, ongoing maintenance, and termination of investment strategy accounts across Agency, Custody, and Trust relationships. The Investment Support Team provides comprehensive administrative services throughout the investment product lifecycle—streamlining processes and facilitating communication between client-facing partners and downstream trading teams to allow client-facing partners to focus on building and maintaining client relationships rather than managing investment product administrative details.
Major Duties
Acts as the primary liaison between Wealth Management client servicing teams and Northern Trust Asset Management trading teams. Facilitates investment-related activity—including cash requests, model changes, tax harvesting, halt/resume trading, and portfolio rebalances—initiated through Partner Workstation Case Management.
Reviews case instructions to ensure accurate and efficient processing. Routes requests to the appropriate resolver group and follows up on any issues with corrective actions.
Initiates investment manager notifications with product trading groups to raise cash or invest contributions. Conducts peer reviews to validate instructions prior to submission.
Provides consultative support and serves as a subject matter resource for downstream processing standards related to investment events. Coordinates with Enterprise Investment Product Groups on time-sensitive or complex requests to ensure proper handling.
Builds and maintains effective working relationships with client servicing teams—including Portfolio Managers, Advisors, Investment Associates, and Investment Product Groups—as well as other internal partners to support a positive client experience.
Monitors turnaround times for assigned activities and communicates with partner groups to ensure tasks are completed within established service level standards.
Identifies and resolves complex problems within established guidelines, applying sound judgment and attention to detail.
Knowledge/Skills
Solid understanding of Trust and Custody services, including legal agreement and entity types.
General knowledge of the financial services industry and capital markets.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proficiency in verbal and written communication. Demonstrated attention to detail, time management, organization, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate exceptions and provide consultative resolutions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is strongly preferred.
Salary Range:
$45,600 - 68,400 USDSalary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
