Job Title: Cleaning Operative 
Rate of Pay: £12.21 per hour
Contract Type: Permanent, Part Time
Hours: 10 hours per week
Shift Pattern: 2 days in a week (5PM - 10PM with a 20 minutes paid break)
Location: Hammerson, Bullring Shopping Centre, Park Street, Birmingham , West Midlands, England, B5 4BU

We are looking for a reliable and customer-focused Cleaning Operative to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all visitors to the Shopping Centre. You will play a key role in delivering high standards of cleanliness and customer service, contributing to the overall visitor experience.

Job Overview:

As a Cleaning Operative, you will work both independently and as part of a team to ensure all areas of the shopping centre are kept clean and presentable. You will be provided with full training and expected to help achieve agreed service standards, while also using basic technology tools for communication, training, and task management.

Main Duties:

The role involves ensuring that all assigned areas are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards at all times. It requires operating and maintaining cleaning equipment in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition while strictly following Health & Safety procedures and guidelines when handling cleaning chemicals and equipment. The individual must complete all required training to perform the role effectively and safely. Teamwork is essential, but the ability to take initiative and complete tasks independently is equally important. A helpful and courteous presence is expected to assist visitors when needed, contributing to an enhanced shopping experience. Prompt reporting of any maintenance or safety issues to the supervisor is required. The role may also involve using handheld devices or digital systems to log tasks, report issues, or complete training modules. 

Requirements:

Candidates must be able to communicate and read basic English to understand training materials and Health & Safety instructions. While previous cleaning experience is desirable, it is not essential, as full training will be provided. The role requires comfort with using or learning basic digital tools, a positive and self-motivated attitude, professionalism, flexibility with working hours and duties—including weekends if needed—and a reliable, punctual, and service-oriented approach.
