Civil/Structural Forensic Engineer role responsible for on-site evaluation of storm-related structural damage and preparation of forensic reports for insurance claims.
Job RequirementsBS degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one of the following states: Pennsylvania, Illinois, Wisconsin, or Ohio
Based in or able to work regularly in one of the following areas: Pittsburgh, PA; Chicago, IL/Southern WI; Cleveland, OH
Forensic investigation experience on residential and commercial structures
Experience preparing and submitting findings and recommendations for insurance claims
Ability to perform physical inspections including climbing up to 30 feet on roofs with up to 40-degree pitch
Ability to access crawl spaces, attics, and other confined areas for inspection
Physical condition adequate to safely perform on-site inspections in a variety of field environments
Preferred SkillsExperience assessing damage from storms and natural events including tornadoes, hurricanes, flooding, and fires
Experience evaluating foundations, roof systems, framing, and structural components for condition and causation of damage
Experience working with insurance adjusters or third-party claim administrators
Experience writing detailed technical reports for legal, insurance, or regulatory audiences
Job ResponsibilitiesPerform on-site forensic investigations of residential and commercial structures, including roofs and foundations, following storms or other damage events
Inspect damage from events such as tornadoes, hurricanes, flooding, fires, and falling trees
Collect field data including photographs, measurements, and structural observations
Analyze findings to determine cause, extent, and significance of structural damage
Prepare detailed written reports of findings and conclusions for submission to insurance companies
Provide technical documentation to support claim evaluations and repair recommendations
Manage daily claims assignments and maintain documentation for each case from inspection through report completion
Pay Details: $90,000.00 to $130,000.00 per year
