Civil Space Capture Manager III
**Job Description** **US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED** Support Civil Space Strategic Business Unit as a Capture Manager III and leader for BAE Systems Inc., Space & Mission Systems (SMS). The Civil Space Strategic Business Unit develops many of the world s pioneering space and science missions. Our team of scientists work with the science community to understand their missions, deliver systems that go beyond expectation and enable a better understanding of our universe and planet. **What You ll Do:** + Pursue, develop, and win business with governmental (US and foreign) and non-governmental organizations in the areas of science missions, operational missions, technology development, and other space-related work in the civil arena. + Interact with principal investigators and mission management centers to develop highly competitive teams for science missions and technology development opportunities. + Lead customer and supplier interactions to strengthen pursuit and commercial outcomes. + Successfully collaborate with other BAE Systems Inc., SMS business units as well as all support organizations (i.e. StratOps and Marketing & Communications; Engineering, Science & Analysis; Finance; Enterprise Assurance; and Operations). + Develop and communicate messages, marketing, competition assessments, and customer insights to pursuit teams and leadership based on our core values of integrity, honesty, transparency, and collaboration. + Own, develop and refine capture strategy and planning documentation. + Lead, coach, and inspire capture and proposal teams to deliver selectable and winning proposals, AO responses, and related documents. + Develop AO-specific products that will increase return on investment (including perhaps costing instructions and guidelines, partnership documentation preparation, capture management training specific to AO process). + Mentor AO capture managers. + Engage in transition of AO-bid missions to execution. + Prepare and lead reviews of RFIs, white papers, ROMs, cost reviews. + Manage budgets for projects within assigned pursuits. + Manage staffing needs for assigned pursuits. + Ensure all business is conducted with the highest ethical standards. + Engage in regular communication with other capture managers, area and opportunity leads, and leadership on topics that include customer insights and priorities, internal investments, and forecasts, and their impacts on overall Civil Space business. + Oversee study efforts having the potential to evolve into new business capture opportunities. + Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule. + Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment. + Perform other duties as necessary. **On-Site Work Environment:** This position requires regular in-person engagement by working **on-site five days** each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required. **Working Conditions:** + Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor. **Required Education, Experience, & Skills** + BS/BA in related field plus 12 years or more related experience. + Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education. + Deep experience and success running pursuits from a capture perspective including science mission formulation, opportunity identification, qualification, capture strategy and proposal delivery. + Deep knowledge of NASA Announcement of Opportunity (AO) process and commercial Request for Proposal (RFP), Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Offer (RFO) processes. + Demonstrated expertise in navigating complex contractual frameworks specific to the Civil Space Industry, including ITAR, EAR and FAR compliance. + Proven ability to develop and apply sophisticated pricing models for space hardware that align with industry cost structures and government procurement standards. + Solid commercial acumen with expertise in financial analysis, business case development, market insight, leading contract discussions, managing risk, and optimizing deal structures within a highly regulated environment. + Adept at translating technical requirements into compelling value propositions while maintaining profitability in long-cycle pursuit processes. + Ability to translate science/end user requirements into engineering requirements and to weigh relevant scientific and technical trades. + Exceptional self-starter with a track record of whole leadership - effectively leading both yourself and cross-functional teams without constant supervision. + Ability to self-manage multiple pursuits simultaneously as well as maintain appropriate firewalls. + Demonstrable profile and relationships across science and commercial civil space community. + Excel at building and nurturing strategic relationships with PIs, academic institutions, mission management centers, suppliers, government officials and other key stakeholders across the civil and commercial space industrial base. + Superb written and communication skills, with experience in creating and delivering presentations to large and small teams, senior decision-making and technical audiences. + Collaborative and inclusive style and ability to work with diverse colleagues, including those working in other geographical areas. + Highest standard of business ethics. \#LI-SMOOT **Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills** + Direct experience working in civil space industry as a Capture Manager, ideally within a large aerospace company, civil space management center or government organization. **Pay Information** Full-Time Salary Range: $150370 - $255630 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
