We’re looking for a Civil Engineer / Project Manager in the Heavy Civil & Excavation Industry.
We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer / Project Manager to join a well-established Saskatchewan-based contractor specializing in heavy civil construction, deep utilities, excavation, concrete works, and large-scale infrastructure projects. This role offers long-term stability, hands-on involvement across multiple operations, and exposure to complex heavy civil, excavation, deep utility, and concrete infrastructure projects.
The Civil Engineer / Project Manager will be responsible for leading projects from pre-construction through completion, ensuring work is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to high quality standards. This position combines project leadership, estimating, surveying, and operational oversight in a practical, field-driven environment.
Civil Engineer / Project Manager Responsibilities: Collaborate closely with operations, superintendents, estimators, and senior leadership Lead and manage civil construction projects from planning through execution Prepare and support project estimates, cost tracking, and budget control Participate in surveying, site assessments, and land identification for upcoming projects Oversee work related to deep utilities, excavation, concrete works, concrete plants, pacewalks, and infrastructure development Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, schedules, and resources across multiple operations Contribute to decisions related to construction methodology, sequencing, and execution strategy Proactively identify project risks, site challenges, and operational constraints, and implement effective solutions Maintain clear communication with internal teams, consultants, and external stakeholders Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements Support consistent project execution and operational best practices The Successful Candidate Has: Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or a related discipline Proven experience managing heavy civil, excavation, or infrastructure projects Strong technical background in deep utilities, concrete construction, and earthworks Experience with estimating, surveying, and site/land evaluation Ability to manage multiple projects and operational priorities simultaneously Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, specifications, and contract documents Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality, safety, and cost control Excellent communication and team-collaboration skills Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel Experience with construction management software is an asset P.Eng designation is considered an asset but not mandatory Willingness and flexibility to work overtime hours as required Compensation and Benefits: Hourly rate of $40–$45 CAD, depending on experience Total annual compensation including overtime and potential performance bonus: approximately $90,000–$120,000 CAD/year Relocation package available for qualified candidates Opportunity to work on diverse, technically challenging civil and infrastructure projects Stable, long-term role with an established contractor Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
