Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a highly motivated staff civil engineer to support mine tailings storage facility and heavy civil infrastructure projects in Mining Division in Denver, CO. The position will involve working under the guidance of Principal and Senior Civil Engineers on a variety of active and closed mine sites. The role will include analyzing data, performing civil engineering calculations, developing technical reports, leading tasks within large projects, developing designs and supporting the production of construction drawings and technical specifications. These duties include 3D modeling of earthwork grading and incorporating designs/layouts to support the required infrastructure of the facilities, from conceptual design through construction.
Job Summary/ Responsibilities:
Performs specific and moderate portions of civil design assignments such as hydraulic calculations for channels and culvertsPlans, directs and performs specific and/or moderate portions of mid- to large, complex projects under the supervision of an experienced senior engineerPlans, oversees and performs technical evaluations including geotechnical and hydrology support as well as civil support to other disciplines (Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.)Develop basic AutoCAD Civil 3D grading models using feature lines, corridors and assembliesPrepares and reviews calculation packagesAssisting with the development of civil reports, drawings and specificationsPreparing and presenting technical presentations of evaluation results to internal and client teamsReview of construction lab testing and preparation of construction reportsQualificationsMinimum Requirements
BA/BS + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.EIT CertificationValid U.S. Driver’s LicensePreferred Qualifications
MA/MS Civil Engineering with Hydrology/Hydraulics, Environmental and/or Geotechnical EmphasisProfessional Engineer (PE) License or ability to obtain within 1 yearProficient in the use of industry software such as Flowmaster, HEC-HMS, Muk3D and AutoCAD Civil3DModeling complicated spreadsheet-based volumetrics, cost estimating supportField/Construction experience; tailings or dams experience a plusFamiliarity with and preparing design reports, drawings and specificationsExcellent Verbal and written communication skillsDemonstrate proactive problem-solving skillsAbility to maintain organization in a changing environmentExhibits initiative, responsibility and flexibilityResourceful, highly organized, and detail orientedAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlinesAdditional InformationSponsorship will not be provided for this role.
