Join us. **Job Description** **Job Description** AECOM’s Water Business Line is seeking a creative and highly motivated Civil Designer specializing in grading earthwork and pipeline design for immediate employment. This is a technical role working with engineers and project managers on a variety of projects within the Mining Division. Candidates can expect a diverse set of project challenges focused on heavy civil grading, roads, dams, utilities and pipelines for large mines. The ideal candidate will have a passion for interdisciplinary collaboration in leading civil designs, producing custom solutions, mentoring junior staff, and developing figures, drawings, material take-off quantities, helping on reports, and specifications for the civil design work on exciting and complex mining projects. **The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to** : + Responsible for initiating and developing engineering drawings through completion for assigned projects in conformance with the requirements, applicable codes, and design criteria established by the project’s discipline engineers. + Under direct supervision, completes design assignments of moderate complexity. + Under general supervision, develops engineering drawings of moderate complexity. + Applies a solid level of understanding within a specific discipline. + Familiar with codes, permits, and software applications related to the discipline. + Understands the process of preparing designs and drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards, and procedures. + Basic understanding of Engineer’s process of performing and verifying design calculations to support the overall project design. + Fully understands the purpose and use of vendor documents and reviews discipline supplier documents for accuracy. + Basic knowledge of the use of requisitions and the role of materials management. + Assists in the collection of data on manpower, man-hour, and labor costs requirements for design staff to aid in evaluating the budget. + Basic knowledge of cost estimating methods and performs material take-offs for the discipline. + Intermediate knowledge of discipline’s materials costs and concept of cost analysis and forecasting. + Basic knowledge of the project change control process and can identify a potential change. + Basic understanding of the discipline’s equipment and material lists. + Extensive experience with Autodesk Civil 3D through release 2025, with an emphasis on complex and advanced surface modeling and pipeline modeling capabilities. + Ability to take general direction and simple sketches from engineers and progress through all stages of design. + Mining - Grading design, surface modeling and site development for tailing storage facilities, starter dams, foundations, embankments, seepage ponds, utility corridors, waste rock piles, buttresses, ring dikes, underdrains, closure plans, and instrumentation and monitoring. + Civil/Site- Site development, access and haul roads, drainage channels, jurisdictional and non-jurisdictional dams, slope stabilization, retaining walls, detention ponds, land development, surface drainage, and stream restoration. + Prepare detailed calculation packages for earthwork quantities, reservoir storage capacity, and tailing storage. + Ability to process a variety of data sources to build existing base surfaces from LiDAR, survey points, break lines, DEMs, and contours. + Detailed understanding of coordinate systems and the ability to transform data from one system to another. + Data management of survey and client data through the project life cycle. + Works under limited supervision. + Performs both routine and non-routine, complex design assignments that require judgment in resolving issues or making recommendations. + Responsible for providing leadership and direction of specific CAD technologies assigned to the project team. **Qualifications** **Minimum Requirements** + BA/BS degree + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education + Autodesk AutoCAD Civil3D experience required **Preferred Qualifications** + Strong technical progression within civil engineering and design. + Comprehensive knowledge of industry standards. + Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) + ProjectWise + Microsoft Excel + Google Earth + NavisWorks + ESRI GIS, Blue Marble Global Mapper or other GIS applications. + Experience with other software such as InfraWorks, ReCap, Bluebeam, Revit a plus **Additional Information** + Sponsorship will not be provided for this role. + Relocation is not provided for this role. Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
