Position Summary

The Civil Construction Engineer is the owner’s on-site technical lead for all civil, structural, and site-related construction activities for a semiconductor manufacturing facility. This role ensures work is executed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with project specifications, design documents, and quality standards. Acting as the primary liaison between the owner, designers, and contractors, the engineer oversees field progress, reviews submittals, resolves technical issues, and coordinates with other disciplines to integrate civil works with all facility systems. A strong field presence, attention to detail, and commitment to safety and quality are essential to delivering the project to the highest standards.

Role and Responsibilities

Here's What You'll be Responsible For:

Project Oversight and Planning: Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders. Review and approve contractors' project plans, schedules, and budgets. Monitor feasibility studies and ensure alignment with the company's strategic goals.General Contractor Management: Manage and oversee the performance of general contractors to ensure compliance with contracts, specifications, and client expectations. Conduct regular progress meetings and site inspections with contractors. Address contractor-related issues promptly to avoid project delays or disputes.Construction Coordination: Ensure general contractors adhere to construction schedules and quality standards. Conduct site visits to verify progress and compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. Provide direction and resolve on-site challenges in coordination with contractors.Stakeholder and Client Representation: Act as the primary client representative, ensuring effective communication between the client, contractors, and other stakeholders. Collaborate with consultants, engineers, and regulatory authorities to align project goals. Maintain strong client/contractor relationships and ensure overall satisfaction with project delivery.Reporting and Documentation: Compile and present project updates and performance reports to the client organization. Maintain comprehensive project records, including contracts, permits, and correspondence. Utilize project management tools to track progress and ensure accountability.

Skills and Qualifications

Here's What You'll Bring to Samsung:​

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering – a foundational requirement to understand design principles, construction materials, and structural systems.5+ years of relevant experience – experience assisting with or supporting the management of civil construction projects, preferably in industrial or infrastructure environments.Project Management software is helpful (currently using Project Sight).City Inspector, Fire Department, Engineer of Record interface experience also helpful. Strong understanding of construction documents and standards – ability to read drawings, specs, and apply relevant codes (e.g., ACI, ASTM), with willingness to learn and grow into deeper technical oversight.Strong organizational and communication skills – capable of tracking progress, preparing field reports, and coordinating between contractors and the owner’s project team.Eagerness to learn and adapt – willingness to work in a fast-paced environment, take ownership of tasks, and grow under the guidance of senior engineers or project managers.

Eligible full-time employees (salaried or hourly) may also receive MBO bonuses based on company, division, and individual performance.
