Description:

Using the quality caring model, the operating room nurse (OR RN) demonstrates expertise in the performance and application of the nursing process to plan and manage the care of patients in the operating room setting and patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures. An innovator in minimally invasive surgery, Holy Cross Hospital was the first in Montgomery County to offer robotic surgery with the da Vinci® surgical system.

Responsibilities:

The OR Nurse plans and delivers patient careCollaborates with the surgical team to develop and implement individualized care plans for patientsPerform pre-operative assessments, including reviewing patient histories and conducting physical examinationsPerform scrub functions including selection and handling of instruments and supplies during proceduresPerform circulating functions including monitoring, recording, and communication of patient conditionMonitor patients' vital signs and ensure their safety and comfort throughout the surgical processAssist with specimen collection, processing, and documentationEducate patients and familyPlan continuum of care

What you will need

Required:

Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree (with the requirement to obtain a BSN/MSN within a specific time frame)Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.BLS certification (American Heart Association)At least 1 year of nursing experience in a surgical setting (scrubbing and circulating)

Preferred:

BSN or MSN preferred  

 

Pay Range: $35.41 – $54.19

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education.  Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.  The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
