This vacancy is located in the Beauregard Child Welfare Office in DeRidder, LA (Child Protection Investigation, Foster Care, and Family Services units).
The position primarily exercises direct supervision over the units of Child Welfare Specialists providing services in the CPS, Foster Care, and Family Services programs in line with the agency mission and goals.
Minimum Qualifications
Six years of experience in child welfare; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in child welfare; OR
A bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience in child welfare; OR
An advanced degree in a social science or behavioral health field, nursing, or a juris doctorate plus two years of experience in child welfare.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Direct and supervise all staff assigned to the unit to effectively utilize time, skills, expertise and all available resources to administer program responsibilities to the direct optimum benefit of children, families and other clients as prescribed by law and policy.
Consider and approve leave for staff under their supervision including overtime by staff.
Address any inquiries or complaints regarding this office by evaluating the information received, assessing the data available and preparing an appropriate response through supervisory channels to respond to such inquiries.
Responsible to monitor the following systems: Web Focus, Access, FATS and SDM. Approve Tips Data entry processes to ensure accuracy of case record data; interview prospective employees and prepare a narrative style summary of each interview in relation to a specific vacancy and/or inquiry; including assessments and recommendations.
Provide some basic training to new staff in addition to what is more formally presented in other forums. Also provide ongoing training to staff including presentation, emphasis and/or interpretation of new policy, revisions and procedural techniques.
Review recommendations of staff relative to the determination of the validity of abuse/neglect reports.
Position-Specific Details:
Compensation: The referenced position has a minimum Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $26.91.
Appointment Type: This position may be filled as a probational appointment or a job appointment that may last up to 48 months. Job appointments may convert to probational appointments. Also, it may be filled as a detail and promoted within 12 months or by promotion of a classified permanent employee.
