Essential functions:

Stays current on child safety and health education practices through continuing education and participation in relevant prevention networks.

Specifically call out expectation that they should be (or will become) a CPST with advanced training in adaptive transportation

Coordinates car seat safety checks, appointments, inventory, and distribution across multiple sites and clinical teams

Manages distribution of safety devices (e.g., window stops, firearm lock boxes) with clinical and community partners.

Develops and delivers health education programs, including planning, logistics, and outreach to schools and community partners.

Oversees supply orders, storage, inventory, and educational materials.

Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with external agencies and service providers.

Assists with promotional strategies and educational content in coordination with marketing.

Supports program evaluation through data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Serves as an internal liaison for injury prevention education, providing expertise and support as needed across departments

Performs additional duties as needed to support team and organizational goals.

Position Summary

The Child Safety Educator is responsible for coordinating health education programs and services of the Center for Childhood Safety, presenting education sessions, and developing and distributing public health information materials. This is a professional exempt level position working under limited supervision. Work situations vary from routine to specialized project work and require strong organization skills, a community service oriented individual, creativity, the use of discretion, good judgment, problem solving, independent thinking, and decision making within the scope of the positions responsibilities. Major decisions are subject to the review and approval of the Manager – Center of Childhood Safety. Internal contacts are at all levels of staff and management throughout the medical center. External contacts include community associations and agencies, vendors, local, state, and federal agencies, and outside organizations.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Health Education or related field /or extensive related experience in the field (minimum of 8 yrs)Valid Washington State Driver’s LicenseMinimum two (2) years experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating education programsConsideration may be given to internal candidates not meeting the minimum qualifications

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $66,997.00 - $96,408.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
