Job Description
Background/International Rescue CommitteeSummary:
The Syria crisis is often described as the worst humanitarian catastrophe since the end of the Cold War. Today, 13.4 million people in Syria - more than half of the country's population - need humanitarian assistance with needs increasingly being exacerbated by economic decline. Of these, 6.8 million are refugees and asylum-seekers who have fled the country. This is no short-term humanitarian episode. The devastating human consequences to huge numbers of people will endure for decades. The destruction of relationships, communities, livelihoods, homes, and infrastructure will take years to repair.
International Rescue Committee is offering a robust humanitarian response to the Syria crisis a rapidly expanding portfolio, supported by more than 1000+ staff in Syria Country Program. IRC is undertaking programs in Syria and the neighboring countries of Turkey, Iraq, Lebanon, and Jordan in the fields of health, child protection, early childhood development, education, women’s protection and empowerment, non-food items and food distribution, cash assistance, water and sanitation, protection and rule of law, and livelihood programming. Our work in these challenging settings gives rise to some of the most pressing issues facing contemporary humanitarian action, including questions of access, security, funding, and coordination.
Job Overview/Summary:
As part of the Syria response, the International Rescue Committee is expanding its portfolio to provide specialized child protection services in Idlib Governorate. The Child Protection Case Management Assistant will carry out all steps of the case management process for a designated number of individual children at risk of abuse, exploitation, neglect, and violence, as well as their families.
Responsibilities:
Technical Quality
+ Provide Child Protection Case Management services in Idlib and its countryside for children by applying the seven steps of case management, starting from identification, registration, assessment, planning, follow-up, and referral when necessary, and closing the case once child protection needs are met.
+ Ensure proper documentation and completion of administrative forms in accordance with all case management steps, relevant tools, and information management procedures (maintain all data uploaded and updated on CPIMS).
+ Provide continuous support to families and alternative care and foster care systems (where available).
+ Participate in and support the identification of children affected by or at risk of harm through parenting interventions, recreational activities, and psychosocial support activities.
+ Conduct parenting skills sessions for caregivers of adolescents in the relevant area.
+ Maintain complete, accurate, and confidential case files to document client interactions and interventions using International Rescue Committee tools.
+ Ensure adherence to the Case Management Data Protection Protocol for case files and personally identifiable client information.
+ Provide input to the supervisor for weekly activity plans and movement plans.
+ Submit monthly reports to the supervisor accurately summarizing and documenting activities, as well as highlighting challenges and recommendations.
+ Consistently and proactively monitor and assess safety and security conditions while in the field; immediately report concerns or incidents to IRC management, and coordinate with community leaders and other external actors as required to maintain and enhance the security environment of IRC programs.
+ Actively participate in all capacity-building opportunities, including formal trainings, on-the-job coaching, and peer sessions.
+ Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support and develop International Rescue Committee programs
Grant Monitoring & Reporting
+ Maintain complete, accurate, and confidential case files to document client interactions and interventions using IRC tools.
+ Make sure to follow case management data protection protocol for case files and client identifying personal information.
+ Provide input for weekly activity and movement plan to the supervisor.
+ Provide monthly reports to the supervisor accurately summarizing and recording activities; as well as raising challenges and recommendations.
+ Consistently and proactively monitor/assess the safety and security situation while you’re in the field; promptly reporting concerns or incidents to IRC management and liaising with community leaders and other external parties as required to maintain/enhance the security environment for IRC programs.
+ Actively engage in all capacity building opportunities including formal training, on the job coaching and peer to peer sessions.
+ Other duties as assigned by the supervisor are to enable and develop IRC programs.
Other:
+ Other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor to support the implementation of the program.
+ All International Rescue Committee staff are required to adhere toThe IRC Way Standards for Professional Conductand the IRC country employment policies.
Qualifications
+ At least intermediate institute degree or other advanced technical qualifications in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Education, or other related fields.
+ Previous experience working with children, in social work or community outreach.
+ At least two years of experience implementing child protection case management in humanitarian or development contexts.
+ Strong understanding of working with children, particularly children at risk.
+ Personal attributes: strong and flexible communication skills with children and caregivers, analytical skills, networking ability, capacity to cope well with pressure, and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
+ Ability to work independently and under pressure.
+ Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect at all times is essential.
+ Comfortably discussing sensitive topics in an honest, professional, and thoughtful manner.
+ Basic computer skills and familiarity with Word and Excel

Language/Travel:
+ Arabic language is required; English language skills are an added advantage.
