Flexible Shift, On-calls and weekends may be required Work Location: University of Miami Hospital & Clinics - Cardiovascular Imaging UTower CORE JOB FUNCTIONS + Coordinate/manage scheduling and patient flow for interdepartmental procedures. + Supervises/Coordinates as well as performs diagnostic imaging studies under the direction of the Noninvasive Cardiology Medical Director Assist with the education and training of new cardiac Echo techs and Cardiology Residents and Fellows Participate in research initiatives and performance of research Cardiac echoes Monitor charging of Cardiac Ultrasound procedures and ensuring operational readiness Demonstrate Cardiac Ultrasound equipment for 'site visits' for visiting physicians and administrators. + Orients and ensures compliance to policies and protocols of the Cardiac Ultrasound section and UM service standards and Direcct Values Perform and train complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of Cardiac Ultrasound scanners and related equipment in accordance with IAC standards of practice Ability to integrate diagnostic, laboratory results, patient history and medical records and adapt exam as necessary. + Ensures Cardiac Echo protocol is followed to maintain high quality standards. + Consistently demonstrates complete competence in performing Cardiac Ultrasound scans as ordered. + Maintain proper aseptic technique utilizing universal precaution guidelines (hand washing, gloves, gown, mask, eye protection and equipment disinfection). + Assist Cardiologist with imaging procedures, starting IV's, and injecting contrast, if applicable. + Assist Cardiologist with interventional Cardiac Ultrasound procedures. + Evaluate Cardiology Echo techs in the performance of Cardiac Ultrasound scans for technical quality, appropriate measurements and labels. + Reviews and reports to Medical Director, technologist cardiac imaging for quality enhancement, Generates Reports to leadership regarding volumes, stats, quality initiatives. + Ensures the Charges of procedures and supplies in UChart/Radiant. + Maintain accurate patient Research records. + Provide assistance with orientation and training to new Cardiac Ultrasound technologists. + Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of treatment; answering questions. + Applies physical age-specific and/or developmental care needs of patients according to their documented physical/development requirement by competency validation checklist: + Adults + Geriatric + Challenged/Disabled + Ensures Cardiac Echo techs, RN, performs basic nursing functions in the patient’s care i.e., assists with bedpans, emesis basins, etc. + Ensures that technologists care for physical and psychological needs of the patient during scanning procedures; initiates life support measures for patients if necessary; assists in “Code Blue” procedure during medical emergencies. + Performs CPR as needed. Ensures that the work area is a clean and sanitary condition and directs the stocking of exam/dressing rooms with required supplies. + Provides and rotates on call support supervision Generates staffing daily schedules, on call schedules, Holiday, Hurricane season coverage. + Monitors compliance with Reporting the unusual findings in a timely manner to appropriate Cardiologist /Supervisory personnel. + Abide by hospital/department HR policies. Adheres to any regulatory body guidelines governing modality including but not limited to: Joint Commission, AHCA, IAC, FL DOH and FDA/MQSA + Assists the Medical Director/Leadership with the day-to-day management within the department. Core Qualifications: Education: Associate degree in relevant field; bachelor’s degree preferred Certification and Licensing: State of Florida General Radiographer License American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonograph (https://www.ardms.org/) (ARDMS) certified in Cardiovascular Radiology BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes: + Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail. + Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines. + Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion. + Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary. + Commitment to the University’s core values. + Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
