Chubb is seeking a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) – Data, who will serve as a strategic leader responsible for defining and executing the company's data technology and infrastructure vision, strategy, and execution. This executive will oversee the development and implementation of advanced data-driven solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and fostering innovation to maintain the company's competitive edge in the insurance industry. The CTO will lead a team of data engineers, and platform engineering professionals while collaborating with cross-functional leaders to leverage data as a strategic asset. Additionally, the CTO will oversee the data infrastructure, associated data security, development methodologies and operational frameworks required to support scalable, secure, and efficient data and technology platform, including the adoption of modern practices such as GenAI/LLMOps and DataOps.
The CTO – Data will jointly report to the Global Data Officer and Global Technology Officer and will collaborate with their teams on data technology strategy, roadmap and delivery priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership:
o Develop and execute a comprehensive data technology and platform strategy aligned with the company's technology best practices and goals.
o Drive innovation in data technology capabilities to enhance platform resiliency, security, operational efficiency, and customer experience.
o Serve as a thought leader in emerging technologies, including use of GenAI, machine learning, for improving efficiencies in support and development efforts.
2. Infrastructure and Scalability:
o Design and implement a robust, scalable, and cloud-native data infrastructure to support the company’s growing data needs.
o Oversee the modernization of legacy systems to ensure seamless integration with advanced data platforms and tools.
o Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of data systems to meet business demands.
3. Security and Compliance:
o Develop and implement robust data security frameworks to protect sensitive customer and business data from cyber threats.
o Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant standards.
o Collaborate with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to proactively address security risks and vulnerabilities in data systems.
4. DevSecOps and Data Integration:
o Lead the adoption and operationalization of Dev/Sec/Ops capabilities in Data Platform and Technology.
o Establish best practices to ensure the efficient deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of data engineering and platform features at scale.
o Drive data architecture, modeling and integration of Global Data Platform capabilities across both analytical and operational use cases.
5. DataOps and Operational Excellence:
o Implement DataOps methodologies to streamline the development, deployment, and monitoring of data pipelines and data workflows.
o Foster collaboration between data engineering, analytics, and IT teams to ensure agility and efficiency in data operations.
o Continuously optimize data processes to reduce time-to-insight and improve operational efficiency.
6. Team Development and Collaboration:
o Build and lead a high-performing team of data engineers, and data architecture professionals.
o Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation, experimentation, and professional growth.
o Partner with senior executives across the organization to align data initiatives with business priorities.
7. Technology Leadership:
o Evaluate and implement cutting-edge technologies to enhance data processing, storage, and analysis capabilities.
o Partner with IT teams to ensure seamless integration of data systems with enterprise technology infrastructure.
o Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve the company's data technology capabilities.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, MS, or PhD) preferred.
Experience:
o 15+ years of experience in data and technology leadership roles, preferably within the insurance or financial services industry.
o Proven track record of driving large-scale data transformation initiatives.
o Expertise in data architecture, governance, and advanced analytics methodologies.

Technical Skills:
o Deep knowledge of data platforms, cloud technologies, and analytics tools (e.g. Azure, Hadoop, Databricks, Snowflake, PowerBI, and Python, (also open to AWS or Google Cloud Platform experience). Nice to have: R.
o Strong understanding of AI, machine learning, LLMs, and predictive modeling techniques.
o Experience with LLMOps, DataOps, and modern data engineering practices.

The pay range for the role is $285,000 to $395,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors.
