Roles in Risk

Risk aims to effectively identify, monitor, evaluate and manage the firm’s financial and non-financial risks in support of the firm’s strategic plan. Operating in a fast-changing environment and utilizing the best in class risk framework, Risk teams are analytically curious, have an aptitude for challenges and an unwavering commitment to excellence. 

 

Our Risk division develops comprehensive processes to monitor, assess, and manage the risk of expected and unexpected events that may have an adverse impact on the firm. Risk teams play a critical function for the firm, driving how the firm takes and manages risk. Risk professionals execute critical day-to-day risk management activities, lead projects and contribute to the ongoing advancement of a robust risk management program. Effective coordination with executive management, business units, control departments and technology is critical for success. We are at the forefront of the most recent engineering solutions, including cloud computing and big data, to better manage compute costs for the firm given increasing demands related to asset pricing and scenario generation.

 

Responsibilities:

Implementation and maintenance of the overall risk framework including policies and proceduresManaging relationships with our key internal and external stakeholders, including regulatorsEnsuring that arrangements are in place to set risk limits and/or tolerances to manage, monitor and assess risk exposures on an ongoing basisMonitoring the effectiveness of the risk management policies and procedures and compliance on an ongoing basisAssessing the adequacy of risk management resources onshoreReporting to the leadership team on risk exposures relative to risk appetite and tolerance, and advise on proposed business strategy and plans relative to the company’s risk appetite and tolerance

 

Qualifications:

Minimum 10 years of experience in risk management within a financial institutionAbility to serve as a risk leader to the branch and partner with senior management across the firmExperience in driving a culture of risk management and mitigationStrong leadership skills and ability to effectively manage, lead and supervise a cross-functional teamExcel at strategic execution and seek opportunities to innovateRespond quickly when incidents arise and engage appropriate stakeholdersExercise sound judgment and superior decision-making skillsExecutive level communication and influencing skills with the ability to resolve issues, build consensus among groups of diverse stakeholders, and have proven skill in resolving conflictNative level expertise in Korean, business level fluency in English
