Reports to: President – Medical Group, Urgent Care, Occupational Health, & Associate Health

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position  

The VP, Urgent Care & Occ Health Operations role is strategic leader who can navigate industry trends, optimize operations, and drive growth while ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.  This system-level executive will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the day-to-day operations across multiple platforms (i.e., urgent care centers, occupational health clinics, etc.  This role will work closely with the President – Urgent Care, Market Presidents, State Presidents, and Human Resources executives to translate strategic vision into executable plans, ensuring efficient and high-quality care delivery, sustainable growth, and profitability. This role requires a strong leader who can drive operational excellence, foster collaboration, and ensure compliance within the complex and highly-regulated healthcare environment.

Essential Job Functions

Develops the strategic vision for urgent care, occupational health and associate health service lines.

Translates strategic vision into operational plans including conducting market assessment to formulate strategic plans for new urgent care and occupational health site development.

Drives operational excellence: Implements strategic initiatives to optimize efficiency, enhance patient care delivery, and improve the overall performance of the enterprise’s ambulatory network.

Makes strategic decisions about capital (including large-scale practice acquisitions and de novo site development), staffing, equipment, and other resources.

Oversees multiple regional operations directors who each manage multiple market-based teams to oversee day-to-day operations of the care delivery sites.

Financial oversight of all operations within scope including development and management of operating budgets, optimizing profitability, driving revenue growth, and analyzing financial data to determine operational changes needed to achieve goals.

Lead compliance and quality assurance initiatives, working closely with clinical leadership to reinforce patient care standards while establishing and monitoring quality benchmarks across the organization.

Manage relations with franchise partners backed by private equity, ensuring compliance with complex operational requirements and adherence to strict franchise agreements to maintain enterprise standing and performance. 

Primary relationship owner with market presidents, statewide presidents and human resources executives to present strategic updates on the performance of our urgent care, occupational health and associate health service lines.

Foster collaboration among market presidents, statewide presidents, human resources executives, Medical Group, and Emergency Departments – stakeholders who may have competing goals which will require a skilled executive to navigate. 

Navigates digital transformation and a technology-rich operating platform in place throughout the Urgent Care and Occupational Health platforms.  Responsible for selection and integration of new technologies, ensuring we choose the right tools, manage implementation, and ensure staff training.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Healthcare or related field (required)

Master’s Degree (preferred)

Work Experience

Extensive experience in healthcare administration and multi-site healthcare operations is crucial, including several years in a senior or executive leadership role within urgent care or ambulatory care settings.

Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making capabilities.

Leader is strategic and has a proven track record as a proactive, results-oriented leader who consistently achieves goals.

Leadership in a complex, highly-matrixed health system environment. Experience working closely with medical practices to drive improvements in access to care.
