Chief Medical Officer

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Chief Medical Officer you will be responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction and overall operational management of physician services and medical staff administration. This role reports to the Hospital President to develop strategic plans, policies and address operational issues that build effective relationships between the hospital and its Medical Staff to produce excellence in clinical outcomes. You will partner with the Chief Nursing Officer to provide effective multidisciplinary approaches to clinical outcome management and environments of quality and safety.

Additional responsibilities of the CMO include

Establishing and implementing standards and policies within each hospital and across hospitals to ensure quality of medical care. Working closely with the Region Chief Medical Officer to meet region and system-wide strategies, goals, objectives and standards. Serving as the primary community resource to all hospital communities and provides advice and counsel to administrators on medical and administration matters related to medical practice and current affairs.
Job Requirements

Five years experience in delivery of physician services and medical staff administration with proven success in progressive responsibility in healthcare leadershipMedical staff relations, quality measurement credentialing and previous medical management experience is highly desirableKnowledge of Joint Commission, managed care, and health policy is essential with proven success in effective integration of medical managementBoard certified in an approved clinical specialty required while in clinical practicesDoctorate in MedicineMD or DO, DR-Current and unrestricted license to practice medicine in applicable stateMasters in Business Administration, preferred
