What this job involves: As Chief Engineer at JLL, you'll serve as the technical cornerstone for our property management operations, leading comprehensive engineering strategies that deliver exceptional outcomes for our clients. In this role, you'll oversee all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems across a diverse portfolio of commercial properties, ensuring optimal performance, energy efficiency, and tenant satisfaction. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams locally and across the globe, embodying our culture of collaboration while driving innovative solutions that set new industry standards. This position requires a strategic mindset combined with hands-on expertise, as you'll be responsible for developing preventive maintenance programs, managing capital improvement projects, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

What your day-to-day will look like:

Develop and execute comprehensive engineering strategies and preventive maintenance programs across assigned propertiesLead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians, fostering an environment where everyone is empowered to thriveManage capital improvement projects from conception through completion, ensuring adherence to budgets, timelines, and quality standardsConduct regular property inspections and system assessments to identify optimization opportunities and potential issuesCollaborate with property managers, vendors, and contractors to deliver seamless building operations and tenant experiencesAnalyze energy consumption data and implement sustainability initiatives to reduce operational costs and environmental impactEnsure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, safety codes, and industry best practices

Required Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in commercial property engineering or facilities managementComprehensive knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and building automation systemsStrong project management skills with experience managing multi-million dollar capital improvement projectsExcellent leadership and team development capabilitiesProficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and building automation platformsExperienced in GxP understanding the importance of proper documentation

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with smart building technologies and IoT integrationKnowledge of local building codes and regulatory requirementsStrong financial acumen with experience in budget development and cost controlPrevious experience in commercial real estate or property management industry

Location: San Diego, CA
 

Shift: Monday to Friday, 6 AM to 3:30 PM, OT as needed + on-call responsibilities

Estimated compensation for this position:

900,000.00 – 130,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
