Job Description Summary
The Chief Engineer is responsible for a wide variety of tasks. This person is charged with effective daily leadership and administration of the engineering team with the objectives of safely and effectively operating machinery and systems and quickly and professionally responding to the needs of the tenants and the Senior Management Account Team. The Chief Engineer is also responsible for protecting and improving the value of the owner’s asset and ensuring that building machinery and systems meet or exceed their rated life.
Job Description
Organize and manage all administrative functions related to the engineering group in. This includes but is not limited to:
Budgeting and financial controlCompliance with all local codes and regulationsPersonnel compensation managementTeam trainingTeam productivity monitoringUpward reporting on budgets, energy accounting, and productivitySupervise and organize all staff activities either directly or through effective delegationOrganization of dispatch and response proceduresDeveloping and motivating the teamDispensation of activities, projects, and routinesEstablishing and using chain of command proceduresInstilling a sense of pride and customer service in team membersImplementing hazard control and team safety practicesImplementation of the Corrigo Facility Preventive Maintenance SystemMaintain team standards for uniforms and appearanceEstablish training goals for each team memberRecognize the authority and objectives of the client. Conduct all activities in a businesslike, competent, and professional manner. This includes:Interacting with contractors, vendors, and consultants in an unbiased, objective, and ethical manner.Complying with all policies and procedures established for the property.Identifying key industry resources that can aid the operation or contribute to enhancements.Treating all fellow employees, industry contacts, and property visitors fairly, impartially, and in a non-discriminatory fashion.Formulate and implement the preventive maintenance program. Specific duties include:Scheduling of preventive maintenance with minimum disruption of building servicesPerforming and/or delegating preventive maintenance tasks to the appropriately qualified staff memberCoordinating the input and output of the Preventive Maintenance system with administrative personnelReviewing the status of preventive maintenance on a regular basisAnalyzing preventive maintenance log data in order to formulate more efficient operating proceduresProvide training and supervision aimed at expanding the capabilities of the engineering assistants. Specific duties include:Demonstrating the proper use and care of tools and instrumentsGiving “hands on” instruction in basic maintenance and trouble-shooting proceduresDeveloping work schedulesEvaluating job performance on an ongoing basisConducting annual progress reviewsRecommended enrollment in relevant outside coursesInstilling an overall professionalism in manner and appearanceScreening engineering staff candidatesService Delivery
Reads and understands the applicable Service Level Agreements, helps achieve the Key Performance Indicators and scores favorably on the client satisfaction surveys.Ensures appropriate follow up with customersSeeks to continuously improve processes, systems and overall client satisfactionProvides direction/information to vendors, facilities staff and service providers as required to ensure excellent coordination/execution of work within client environment with minimal disruptionFinancial Management
Helps support facility specific cost savings targets to contribute to the account achieving significant savings in year one and two of outsourced operations.Creates and issues purchase orders as directed by managers. May be asked to reconcile/review invoices against purchase orders to ensure accuracy.Supports all requests associated with Jones Lang LaSalle Management, Operations and Financial auditsSkills/Qualifications
Minimum 5 years field experience managing facility operationsAbility to lead, train and inspire other engineers to perform at the highest level.College graduate preferred.Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbalGood computer skills, proficient in MS Office programs.Superior customer service skills and orientation. Collaborative style needed. Ability to maintain professionalism at all times under stressful situationsStrong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to plan and manage work under time constraints, without direct supervision.Sound troubleshooting skills and the capacity to fully resolve problemsLocation:
