**Description:**
What will I be doing?
+ Assists and acts in the absence of the Director of Engineering to oversee the functionality and safety of the facility, including the physical buildings, mechanical equipment, electrical system/s, heating and cooling systems, life safety systems and grounds in accordance with local, state and federal laws and regulations.
+ Assists in directing general construction and the installation, maintenance and repair of all electrical, mechanical and architectural systems throughout the facility to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
+ Assigns, verifies and documents the completion of all routine maintenance and repairs in the property maintenance management system.
+ Communicates with city/county/state officials to ensure the proper maintenance of permits and licenses, to coordinate required inspections and to ensure full compliance with codes, regulations and safety standards to protect the well-being of all guests and team members.
+ Assists in the execution of capital projects and property rehabilitations.
+ Assists in interviews, trains, supervises, counsels, schedules and evaluates staff. Other core functions of the position, include but are not limited to:
+ Maintain a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times, while providing personalized service to hotel guests
+ Communicate effectively with guests and fellow team members
+ Ensure maintenance of tools and equipment in safe working condition
+ Maintain records of types and frequency of maintenance
+ Make approved purchases of supplies, equipment and services
+ Maintain inventory
+ Conduct regular safety inspections of the property

**Qualifications:**
+ Engineering/Facility Management degree preferred
+ Must have experience operating high pressure Steam Boilers, Chillers, HVAC systems – mandatory
+ Engineering degree/diploma preferred or journeyman
+ Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills: highly organized, results oriented with the ability to be flexible, and to work well under pressure, strong level of initiative required
+ Strong technical abilities with Microsoft programs and familiarization with computerized maintenance systems an asset
+ Leads by example by displaying a high standard of performance with the ability to communicate these expectations to the team to achieve above expectation results
+ Must be highly safety conscious and actively involved in maintaining a safe work environment throughout the Hotel
+ Experience in a unionized labor setting an asset
+ Previous leadership experience in a similar role required
+ Proven ability to oversee multiple projects with a focus on results
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills and organizational skills
+ Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills
+ Highly responsible and reliable with exceptional attention to details
+ Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
