FLSA: Non-Exempt
Hours Worked: Typically, Monday through Friday, forty-hours per week.
However, must be flexible to meet the needs of the department and complete other projects as assigned.
Position Summary:
The Chemist, Chromatography responsible for preparing and analyzing a wide variety of client samples using various chromatographic techniques and instruments.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Preparing samples, standard reference materials, reagents, and/or solutions. Maintaining a clean and well-organized work area. Performing and documenting routine and advanced maintenance and calibration of analytical instrumentation. Documenting/recording raw data and results of analyses. Executing analytical procedures in accordance with the appropriate regulations. Performs testing independently with little or no guidance from management. Is a subject matter expert (SME) in assigned area and maintains up to date knowledge of current regulations / industry standards, method and protocols. Interprets data from multiple sources and provides analysis. Performs advanced diagnoses and troubleshooting of instrumentation/technique issues. Identify, troubleshoot, and solve escalated technical issues. Provide enhanced guidance and technical training to internal staff. Write or edit procedure as requested. Follow the guidelines set forth with the company Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and procedures. Comply with company management systems in accordance with appropriate regulatory agencies. Follows the guidelines set forth in the company Quality Manual and Safety / Chemical Hygiene Plan. Adhere to the requirements of the company Quality System. Other duties as defined by supervisor, department needs and workload.
Skills & Proficiencies:
General knowledge of chemistry concepts, such as pH, normality, molarity, and solvent compatibility; working understanding of both physical and chemical properties. Knowledge of chromatography principles, theories, and analytical methodologies in addition to experience with chromatographic techniques such as High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Ion Chromatography (IC), Gas Chromatography (GC), or GC/MS. Advanced math skills, general statistical knowledge, including median, mean, standard deviation, and confidence intervals; linear regression analysis; solution calculations including deriving wt/wt results from raw data inputs; ability to derive matrix spike calculations. Demonstrates excellent critical thinking skills. Able to observe, analyze, evaluate, and infer situations or conditions objectively. Ability to train on all technical aspects in data analysis in the assigned laboratory. Instrument maintenance and performance qualification, and troubleshooting. Understanding of experimental design and ability to perform necessary background research. Ability to develop training materials. Possess a willingness to learn in a team-based environment. The ability to work independently and as part of a group. Good attention to detail. Basic computer skills. Demonstrate team leadership. Positive attitude, self-motivated, high level of engagement. Education and Experience:
Degree requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology or closely related field. Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in an analytical chemistry laboratory preferred. Experience in a GLP/cGMP and ISO regulated environment preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.
