Job Description
As a Chemical Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting operations and environmental compliance at our plant. You will be part of a dedicated team responsible for performing technical and analytical services essential to the proper operation of a power generating plant. Your primary focus will be on testing within the power plant, water treatment plant, and sewage treatment facilities, ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance.
ResponsibilitiesConduct unit-specific tests on 1-5 units and perform silica tests.Operate and maintain a water treatment facility to support demineralized water production.Manage boiler water chemistry to support water/steam cycle operations.Operate and maintain wastewater treatment equipment to ensure discharge compliance.Perform water sampling and analysis for parameters such as pH, conductivity, sodium, and silica.Calibrate and maintain continuous instrumentation.Manage chemical feed systems for optimal operation.Log data, analyze results, and respond to critical plant operations.Essential Skills2+ years of industrial lab experience.BS degree in Chemistry or a related field with a minimum of 12 semester hours in Chemistry.Proficiency in the use, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation.Knowledge of water treatment processes, environmental testing, and sampling.Understanding of analytical instrumentation, sodium analyzers, and proper analytical methods.Ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems and read schematic diagrams.Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.Additional Skills & QualificationsBroad knowledge of analytical, inorganic, environmental, and water chemistries.Detailed knowledge of chemical treatment methods and water treatment plant operations.Hazmat training and safety certifications are a plus.High initiative, good communication skills, and ability to work independently.Adaptability to changing work duties and limited supervision.Familiarity with safety protocols and chemical handling.Work Environment
You will be working predominantly inside the power plant, with 98% of your role involving work within the plant facilities. The standard work hours are Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with rotating weekend shifts, typically one weekend per month. On-call duties will be communicated in advance. Initial training will be conducted in the lab, with an expectation of understanding basic chemical processes, hazardous waste management, and OSHA standards. Safety is a top priority, and you will be expected to adhere to all safety protocols.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.
